Review

Seattle based singer/songwriter Shawn McDonald cannot be compared to the majority of christian artists, his music stands somewhere between acoustic based westcoast rock, R&B and folkpop.
In the past 2 years he released an album, recorded a live album, got married to Kate Dillon and their first son was born in April 2007.
But that didn´t stop Shawn from heading into the studio to record another album, he collaborated with Jon Foreman of Switchfoot, Marc Byrd and Ben Glover on the new album "Roots" which is his 3rd for Sparrow.
I like the westcoast tendencies but couldn´t care less for the R&B sounding parts on "Roots", Shawn has a wonderful voice that is perfect for a song like "Captivated".
But there are songs that bring thoughts to Justin Timberlake that doesn´t suit him at all, "Waltz in 3" is beautiful though where the string arrangement stand out.
This was an uneven affair.
