Thirsty westcoast fans - here´s something for you! I couldn´t believe my wrinkled ears when I started listening to this CD for the first time. SOLEIL MOON is a duo consisting of lead vocalist LARRY KING and multi-instumentalist JOHN BLASUCCI. Just don´t get svared by the world "multi-instrumentalist", since these guys invited some of the top session musicians on this CD.
Gosh, I hardly know where to start. The opener is "Willingly", a song reminding me a lot of "Missing you" with STEVE PERRY as well as some DAVID PACK songs. MICHAEL THOMPSON plays fantastic guitar (as always) on the song and the production is simply excellent. Normally, with more or less independent releases on small labels (or no label at all) it´s the production that fails the most. Not here! This album sounds almost like a major label release. "Never say goodbye" actually has my mind wondering away to ALFIE ZAPPACOSTA territory, once again with Thompson´s magic guitar and also with KENNY ARONOFF playing drums. You like JOURNEY? Well, just try the ballad "You and me" and you´ll be stuck. And with a lead vocal like a mix of STEVE OVERLAND and RICHARD MARX, how can you do anything but go to CD Baby right now and order this one? I could babble on ablut all songs, but let´s just finish off by mentioning some of the other players guesting: Ricky Peterson, Paul Jackson Jr., Todd Sucherman (STYX), Lenny Castro and - the LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA (now, how is that even possible?). This CD is a sure must for anyone who likes the above mentioned artists as well as PAUL JANZ, the pop side of GINO VANNELLI and BROKEN WINGS. Hey, tell you what. I actually need to mention "Ohio" too. This song is like MICHAEL W SMITH meets THINK OUT LOUD. Wow!!!!
