In 2004, I wrote that Ziv´s "Fearless" was the best indie album of that year and now I am happy to announce that his new album "Paper and sound" is available at his website.
It´s been 4 long years for a fan like me but the wait is all worth it, Ziv hasn´t lost the touch of writing timeless melodies and since there aren´t that many artists around today making this type of music - I welcome Ziv´s songs with open arms.
The new album is like chapter 2 in the book of Ziv´s life, I recognize some elements from the first album but there is also a new vibe to the album that gives these 10 songs a more mature feel.
In some moments I compare his songs to Daryl Braithwaite and in others, to Seal and even Keane but most important - Ziv´s got his own sound which you will agree on if you will listen to both albums.
This is the most played album in my house right now along with Fleetwood Mac´s "Greatest hits" from 1998.
How cool isn´t it that the song "Society" is a fresh blast from the past theatrical pomp song, the kind that the popular Swedish band The Ark are so good at.
The anthemic "Fighting for you" sounds like it was exclusively written as a movie theme, a mighty soundscape indeed.
I like the heavy guitars and the suggestive bass on "The mirror" which is perfect for the headphones, if you want more traditional radio friendly pop then the opening track "Paper and sound" will get you up in no time.
Another favorite song is "Daylight coming down" that is just as beautiful as a garden in spring.
This is not modern rock, emo, AOR or indie rock - just great music!
