The twin brothers Magnus and Henrik Rongedal was off for a sensational start with the song "Just a minute" in the Swedish Grand Prix of Eurovision song contest. They did a huge success on national TV in the show "Sa ska det lata" where they pulled off Earth, Wind and Fire like they were original singers of the band. Now, when their debut album "Rongedal" finally sees the light of day, I really thought it would be a dance album in the vein of Scissor Sisters like the first hit but it´s not. Sure there are some dance songs on it but we´re also getting lots of 70´s glam rock and orchestral pop a la E.L.O and ABBA not to mention the fantastic voices of these two gents.
Magnus was the lead singer of the superb Big Money that released the two classic pop albums "Lost in Hollywood" (1992) and "Moonraker" (1994). A band that has influenced bands like A.C.T and The Ark, this is what I call feel-good music where you will get rid of all your negative thoughts for 45 minutes. Not all songs are fantastic but there are some awesome songs that I don´t get tired of hearing like "Play on", "Get in and go", "Stroke of luck", "Who do you think you´re foolin" and "Hello Euphoria". I loved Big Money and even if this is just the half of BM, I love this just as much. Too bad the album cover is so terrible.
