If I was an a&r-guy at a major recordcompany I would easily consider to sign this girl. She has a lovely personal voice, a very own way of being, a whole basket of cool tunes and not least a very cool way of being in her artistic attitude. All parts you need for a major deal. And why that? Well, as I wrote - the songs are mighty cool and well written. The arrangements with the stringsection and her piano, combined with her sweet and expressive voice is the perfect companion to these songs... And each songs need your attention a lot cause they challenge you as a listener. And the album grows for each listen. This is an album you need to have if you like Tori Amos, Björk, Charlotte Martin and Kate Bush. This girl is playing in the same league.

Earlier compared to Regina Spektor (even by Julia herself in a half serious half tongue-in-cheek song) Julia has definitely found her own sound. The collaboration and interaction with her string quartet has sharpened her compositional talent, and made her also loosen up a bit - this music surely isn't always as serious as her first EP. A bit rough around the edges sometimes as these are more or less single take recordings, this collection of songs grows on you and will fit like a favorite jacket. I found myself humming the songs weeks after having listened to them for the last time. This is music to stay, and I'm sure Julia will have more tricks up her sleeve!
Feel free to order the limited edition cd (with a selection of videos included) from http://www.sellaband.com/believer/vincentbuller/shop/juliamarcell/ (samples to be heard and 3 songs downloadable for free)

I have to agree this is one great album that you will find your self listening to again and again. If you have not heard it yet then you must do so as soon as posible.

Her EP Storm was already a masterpiece, so the expectations for Julia Marcells debut album were high.
And...she’s done it again! A refreshing and surprising album that shows the amazing talent of Julia Marcell and her band.
So many grat songs on one album – you’ll have more than one favourite song!
A friend once said "What a Motley looking Crew" - Motley meaning "of great variety" and once describing the appearance of a court jester. The re-spelling of Motley Crue was their own invention; and said to have came to them while they were partying & drinking Lowenbrau beer.
