Review

"No line on the horizon" is U2´s first album in 5 years since "How to dismantle an atomic bomb" (2004), they recorded "The saints are coming" with Green Day in 2006.
The new album is more electronic and less rock, it´s a shame that the band uses more keyboards in front of Edge´s stellar guitarplaying.
There´s a great start of the album with the ambient "No line on the horizon" and the very melodic "Magnificent", 3rd track "Moments of surrender" has a Moby-like sound and it´s certainly not one of their best songs.

I love U2 for being so unpredictable but that also means that their albums can be a little too experimental, the new single "Get on your boots" is truly not what I expected from Bono and the boys - way too industrial and garage rocking.
The arena rocker "I´ll go crazy if I don´t go crazy tonight" is a hit single contender and one of the best songs on the new album, unfortunately the main part of this album is a disappointment!
I am no fan of albums like "Achtung baby" (1991) and "Zooropa" (1993), I prefer the first 5 from "Boy" (1980) to "The Joshua tree" (1987) and the latest two before this one.
The 2nd half of the album reminds just too much of their early 90´s records so I cannot give this more than 2 stars.

A very good album and their best since Zooropa in 1993. It is not an album that takes you in on the first listen. In fact it takes a few listens and probably a few months to get your head round this album. With the exception of Get On Your Boots the album is an intiguing listen and it's clear they band worked hard on the album. Perhaps not their best but it's a return to the experimental and surprising U2 after the lukewarm albums of All That You Can't Leave Behind and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.

Huge fan but struggled at first to get into this 1. Throw some good headphones on and take a good listen, I really like this 1 now because it is different and has some great sounds and lyrics.

Hey Canan, I think the new album doesn´t hold together in one piece. Too many up´s and down´s, and I really don´t fancy that Edge´s guitar is too low in the mix

2 stars to a U2 album?????? C'mon Kaj, really how many times did you give it a listen? Once? Any U2 album will get more than 3 stars, that's their minimum. I know you are always busy listening to many albums at the same time, bu this is U2, they are not like the others, you know.
