L.A dance pop duo Boomkat features brother and sister Kellin and Taryn Manning, their first full length "Boomkatalog. One" was released in 2003 on Dreamworks records and the song "Wasting my time" was featured in the 8 Mile movie. The album also included the hit single "The wreckoning", now they´re back with the 2nd album "A million trillion stars" and the music is still a mix of R&B, disco, pop and hip hop. The new album was available on iTunes in 2008 but gets a physical release on March 10, Boomkat sounds a bit like Pink, Gwen Stefani and Nelly Furtado. This is definitely music for the MTV generation, I prefer the pop side of this record more than the hip hop side. My highlights are "Lonely child", "Stomp", "Elated" and "Instead.
The name Modest Mouse derives from a passage from the Virginia Woolf story "The Mark on the Wall" which reads "...and very frequent even in the minds of modest, mouse-coloured people..."
