Review

Singer/songwriter Christopher Carrabba became the poster boy for a new generation of emo fans in the early 2000s, having left behind his former band (the post-hardcore Christian outfit Further Seems Forever) and the success have been massive ever since with albums like "The Shade Of Poison Trees" and not least the magnificent "Dusk And Summer" where Christopher worked together with Don Gilmore and Daniel Lanois among others. On the new album he works with the power-pop whiz Butch Walker and Fountains of Wayne´s Adam Schlesinger and the result is mighty fine. Sometimes energy powerpop with flirts of the late 70´s (Stacy´s Mom), sometimes Gin Blossoms smelling rock like in "I Know About You" which is brilliant (just listen to the chorus...) and sometimes just beautiful atmospheric poprock like in "Until Morning". A mighty fine album.
