Music From Home - I like it better here is a collection of 17 new and exclusive songs from the Swedish label Hemifran with artists like Jackson Browne, Citizen K, Jeff Larson, Joel Rafael and many more. The album is filled with comfy music that grows for each time I hear it, I thought at first that the majority of the songs were too laid back but I kinda like it after a while. We get songs in genres like folk rock, alternative country, singer/songwriter, west coast and 70´s pop.
Highlights on the album are Joel Rafael´s "This is my country", live recorded together with Crosby and Nash. Citizen K´s "A place to call your own", Jeff Larson´s "This morning in Amsterdam" that also features America´s Gerry Beckley. Nice indeed. I´m not a big fan of the honky tonk style of Jack Tempchin´s "Making myself at home" or the Eric Clapton-like blues of Keith Miles contribution "The places the devil calls home". But Jackson Browne closes the album as a master with the live version of "The Rebel Jesus", turn off the light and dream away to this magnificent tune. Lots of music here, some good, some ok and a few really good songs.
