Review

Yen Harley is an alternative rock band from The Netherlands, it all started in 2008 when singer Lukas Batteau released his debut EP "All dressed up and nowhere to go". The EP was well received and Lukas went on to play lots of festivals plus supported Tracy Bonham, in 2009 Lukas was looking for a darker sound and teamed up with drummer Berry Vink, bassist Josine van der Splinter and guitarist Rolf Perdok. The result is the full length album "The substance of things" which can be described as a grunge-like melancholic rock album for fans of Red Wanting Blue, Madrugada and The Smiths. It has it´s moments like "Pearls" and "Family man" but the songs tend to soundalike and I´m not the biggest fan of The Smiths sounding rock either. A decent piece of work.
