Review

I reviewed Valencia’s previous album a couple of years back and I remember liking it. So I was quite intrigued about this new album from the band. This one is titled Dancing with a Ghost and in begins with the title track, a catchy tune with a nice tempo to it. My favorite song so far is second out, the atmospheric Spinning Out. They manage to create an uplifting feel to the album and the variation of the songs is good as well. Somewhere I belong is another nice tune, very different with lots of effects.

Somehow Valencia feels more mature than some other bands in the genre and is refreshing that all the lyrics are not about heartbreak. The biggest issue for the band is still the fact that there are so many similar bands out there. Not all songs stand out and sometimes it is hard not to confuse Valencia with their genre colleagues. Anyway, this is a solid release that will appeal to fans of Cartel, The Starting Line and Yellowcard.
