Review

Behind the name Redlight King stands Kaz Jones from Hamilton, ON, which earlier this year released this cool album on Hollywood Records. So this artist is not a band but a one-man project that now is also located in Los Angeles. Musically speaking, this talent is somewhere between MuteMath, Linking Park and Kevin Rudolf, ie somewhat experimental rock solid with some hip hop influences. Is not a major fan of the combined rock and rap, but Kaz makes it really neat and it works well overall on this record. However, the tracks "Little Darling" and "Drivin 'To California" are somewhat repetitive and does not fit in here properly, but when he is close to MuteMath things starts to happen.

The first single "Old Man" is a cover of Neil Young's classic and should create a pretty good interest around Redlight King with it’s cool and catchy flow.

Dallas
"Old Man" isn't a cover, it just samples Neil Young's song in the chorus.

Did you know that?

Queen were originally called Smile. Singer Freddie Mercury came up with the new name for the band, later saying: "Years ago I thought up the name “Queen” … It’s just a name, but it’s very regal obviously, and it sounds splendid … It’s a strong name, very universal and immediate. It had a lot of visual potential and was open to all sorts of interpretations. I was certainly aware of gay connotations, but that was just one face of it."
