Most times, you can go and see tribute concerts to the usual stuff like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, AC/DC etc in my hometown. But on June 3rd, something else happened in Orebro. A tribute to the legendary Toto, all rock journalists hate object no.1. But there is also a lot of love for this classic AOR band because O´Learys was crowded from wall to wall with people dancing in front of the stage to Toto hits. T3 The Toto Tribute is lead by drummer/composer Peter Yttergren and he was a deadringer for Jeff Porcaro this evening, let me tell you.One of the best drum performances I´ve heard in thistown for ages. Peter has gathered a great band of 5 musicians and 2 singers that played very tight and had a really really great live sound, the bass from Micke Palmström (ex.Crystal Blue) felt like moog taurus pedals in some moments.
But the true highlight was the lead singer Josefin Bäck, I know it´s hard to pull off these Toto classics but she truly did it. I am amazed and I think most of the people that evening gained a new favorite singer. What about the setlist then, what can I say?! I couldn´t have done a better set of Toto songs myself. They opened with "Falling in between" and then lined up songs like "Pamela", "Cant stop loving you", "White sister", "Cant stand it any longer", "I wont hold back", "Girl goodbye", "Lion", "Mr Friendly", "King of the world", "Endless", "Make believe", "Home of the brave", "Africa", "Rosanna" and "Hold the line".
