3 Pill Morning will release their new album early in 2010. To give the fans a taste of what is come they release this mini-EP, entitled Singles. It is available both digitally and as a physical EP. The difference is that the physical version has one extra track. The songs that are on both releases are "Villain" and "Confrontation". The bonus track is an acoustic version of "Hey (Stay There)" from their previous album The Side Effects of Chronic Ambition. It is quite hard to judge an EP of just two or three songs but I must say that both the songs "Villain" and "Hey (Stay There)" are quite good while "Confrontation" is not as good as the other two. Two out of Three is not bad at all and it makes me curious about the upcoming full-length album. If they can build on this 3PM should release a fine album. This is a good start. Get this on you regular digital store and head to http://www.3pillmorning.bigcartel.com to order a physical copy

| Minneapolis based 3 Pill Morning released their debut "The side effects of chronic ambition" in 2009 and this year they follow up with the 2nd full length "Take control". We´re talking mainstream modern rock here that will appeal to fans of Trapt, Egypt Central and Papa Roach, this album ain´t bad, it´s just a bit ordinary. There are some good songs on it like the odd "6 underground" and the massive title track "Take control" that opens the album, however the music is also far from giving me the goosebumps. I wish they could be a bit more daring on the next release because they´ve got potential. |

3 Pill Morning is a new cool band that you have to look up if you’re into Modern Rock. Their debut "Black Tie Love Affair" is really strong and should be mentioned with bands like Deepfield, Framing Hanley, 12 Stones and Cavo.
Really likes their beautiful blend of tough rock and sleek pop melodies, making them alternative and commercial at the same time.
The producer of the album is none else than Jon King (Augustana, Throwing Gravity, Future Leaders of the World) so we’re talking quality when it comes to the sound.
Highlights here are "Nothing's Real", "Loser" and "Rain", but you will be this way your own on this very competent record. Cool stuff!

On September 6 ,32 Leaves from Phoenix, AZ will release their debut album ?Welcome To The Fall? through Double Blind Music, a new interesting independent label. The band that consists of five youngsters plays powerful rock like a mix of more compact sounding rock ala Filter and Wetwerks, mixed up with some deeper shades of Tool and Dredg. I really like their style with the big melodic melodies and darker elements that?s never too commercial or too odd and quirky. Favorites on ?Welcome To The Fall? are the fantastic opener ?Sudden Change?, the single ?Blood On My Hands? and ?Waiting?, but you will find more goodies here. The 6th of September is the date to remember, but don?t forgot to warm up with the 4 songs available in their media player. |

From New England comes this enjoyable modern rock quartet that I found on cdbaby.com,a paradise for all us modern rock fans. Mike Rivera is the man behind this band?s music and he sure can write good stuff in the same vein as Vertical Horizon and Matchbox 20,"Scream out loud" contains 3 songs but is a nice appetizer in the wait for a full length album that these guys sure do deserve.
You can call it acoustic modern rock if you want but 33 K Street aren?t afraid to rock it up on the refrain parts on the first two songs, the title track is the best one here with some wonderful strings in the verse and the refrain echoes out Vertical Horizon.
The music is rather laid back so don?t expect uptempo songs, however while listening to the 2nd track "Not for nothing" it?s easy to fall back in the sofa and relax 100%,nice song indeed and even if the 3rd one "What you wanted" don?t hold up as good as the first 2.....I want to hear more from this band.
A good EP that will suit any romantic dinner with your boy/girlfriend. |

| Here you have a new combination of styles... Light “AOR-idol”-country spiced with a boyband-feeling… Yeah – the recordcompanies tries everything. This band is also a Christian band so the lyrics are quite heavily influenced by that scene. It’s well done and there are a bunch of very nice melodic refrains like third out “One Life To Love” which is a very nice tune. But it is to wimpy and glossy and I can’t really take this for real even for a pink-smelling wimp like myself. |

I am impressed by the mighty fine arranged songs where the orchestral strings takes some of the songs to the next plateau. Such a shame that the album has too many tracks coz I can pick out a few ones that are only good enough to be used as bonus tracks on singles etc. The title track "Masses collide" is very, very good! |

May 27th will see the fifth album by the metal rockers from Alaska, 36 Crazyfists with the release of The Tide and It´s Takers. The band has continued to gain a large fan base from their explosive metal music and tightened raspy vocal lines. 36 Crazyfists push forward resulting in the sound most familiar to their earlier album, A Snow Capped Romance, as it can be it´s sister album. This is a great thing for the band since thats my favorite album from them.
The songs flow right into each other as the band incorporate more of the acoustic sound as well. They have the average brutal fast metal songs with the chrouses opnening up, acoustic openers that brutally pound into a metal frenzy and then there are others that are just straight acoustic, showing off the bands softer side. Don´t let this fool you as the band is not, and I mean NOT taking a more "mainstream" approach but showing off their wicked musicianship outside of the normal metal. The album is a fierce contender in the metal genre and the melodies are prominent when needed.
With many metal albums, especially when bands have more than a few, as I have seen, there isn´t too much difference between its predecessors. Or the band tries to make their old sound work again. Not the case with these guys. They know how to appeal to the heavy fans as well as their hardcore dedicated ones.
The drums are superb on the record and the production by guitarist Steve Holt is the best one since A Snow Capped Romance, with the tight sounding drums and open metal guitars. The masterful produced drums are placed very well admist the growling vocals and singing choruses. They use what they know best on this record and it will appeal to every 36 fan and more. The band proves they are here to stay and can rock the metal with the best of its top genre runners. Remember to turn this one up... The drums will kill your stereo. Its awesome! |

Collisions and Castaways is the latest album from Alaskan metal act 36 Crazyfists. On their previous two efforts they flirted more with the acoustic guitar but on this album they are back to their heavy roots. Having said this, the opening track is as acoustic as it gets during the first minute and a half. But then the band comes in and they are hitting hard. The tempo is very high and the roaring vocals seems more aggressive than even. I must also say that the clean vocals from Brock Lindow sound better than ever as well.
Halfway into the album we get an instrumental track, one that works as a well needed pause between all the heavy songs. That is actually a quite nice way to kind of divide the album. From the first couple of spins I hold the first half better than the second one but that might change the more I listen to the album. Songs like Mercy and Grace and album opener In the Midnights are great songs that lift the album while songs like the closing Waterhaul II let the album down.
There is not much of the mainstream touch left to 36 Crazyfists but I have to say that I like them better this way. This album is a safe buy if you like what they have done before and die-hard fans probably already have this in their collection. There are plenty to find here if you are into bands like Killswitch Engage, Devildriver and Demon Hunter. Heavy stuff indeed.

Christian trio 38 Acres debut album from last year is produced by White Cross guitarist Rex Carroll but do not expect it to sound that way, this is more acoustic based melodic rock with a rootsy feel to it - however I think they weigh a little too light and many of the choruses are way too "happy" if you know what I mean. They may have fans in the Christian community but I don?t like David Parker?s voice,he?d be one of those that wouldn?t make it through the first round of American Idol. I?m afraid I have to pass on this. |

The Southern state rockers 38 Special joins company with Def Leppard, not in the music direction but with releasing albums with more than 6 years between each album,"Bone against steel" came out in 91 and in 97 "Resolution" hit the streets. And now the band is back with the first studio album in 7 years called "Drivetrain",one thing for sure-the old Cowboys of 38 Special hasn?t gone soft with the age. The new album is their most rocking effort so far,the only original members Donnie Van Zandt and Don Barnes said they wanted to capture the same atmosphere on "Drivetrain" as when they are playing Live. But is it the way we want to hear the band that released classic albums like "Rockin into the night","Tour De Force" and "Strength in numbers"? There are some songs on their 2004 effort that has that classic Southern style of AOR such as "Jam on","Make some sense of it" and "Hiding from yourself",but I don?t think the ZZ Top/Bryan Adams rockers "Quick fix","Something I need" and the first single "Hurts like love" suits this band?s sound at all and then we have the bluesy style on "Trooper with an attitude","Bad looks good on you" and "The Squeeze"-maybe they work just fine in a bar around 2 a.m in the night but on a record?!,I don?t think so. I expected more from this new album,a little disappointed I am. |

Dirty New Jersey rockers 383 Stroker sounds like a cheaper version of New York Dolls,New Wave rock and roll with a touch of Garage rock like The Strokes and White Stripes.....it could be fun if you?re in that mood but if you?re not-this goes away as fast as you can flush it down the toilet. Apparently, this is their 3rd album and I assume they have some fans but in my opinion it?s 3 too many. |

| Another of those raprocking new bands with two lead vocalists with one singing and the other one rapping, haven?t we heard and seen this before?! 38th parallel is the line of latitude that seperates North and South Korea, they are also a bit political in their lyrics. I compare their music with a mix of Faith no more and White Heart, ofcourse it sounds like an exciting mix but stop right there ......the production is too thin and the material is way too weak! A couple of songs are OK,first the only track without rap titled "Higher ground" that has some fine guitarlicks and then a song with great harmony vocals in the chorus "Clouded". But except from those 2 we have a bunch of hip hop infected stuff,"Who am I" gives me the creeps and "3 times" sounds like Ice T. jamming with Linkin Park the day after(with hangover)! I do think they have potential of beeing a much better band since the vocals can be quite enjoyable at some moments but they have to get off this hiphop train that is taking them deep into the mariner grave! |

From Tampa, Florida comes the independent modern rockband 39 Stripes. The members of the band are Mike Wilson (lead vocals), Joe Costa (drums), Ray Schurr (bass guitar), Steve Henderlong (lead guitar, vocals) and Jason Bradley (rhythm guitars). The band has toured with acts like Newsboys, Jars of Clay and Flyleaf.
The band reminds me a lot of Red and other bands in the same vein, but has also elements of rockbands from the 90's. Though the production of bandmember Steve Henderlong isn't bad, a great production is what this album needed. The songs and music have both potential and with a major producer and some maturing this band could be one to reckon with in the future. For now this is a good start. Hopefully we will here more of this band in the years to come. |

3rd were born in January 1998 out of Delirio, a well-known Italian thrash metal band from the 90s. After a couple of promo EP´s, the band released their first full length "D-Day" in 2006. The title track can be downloaded for free at myspace, it´s actually pretty good and it´s not alone on this 33 minute long record. The opening track "Empty/Alive" and the single "Unable" are 2 other solid tracks, we´re talking numetal the most aggressive way that is influenced by bands like Machine Head, Fear Factory, Soilwork and Mnemic. 3rd is currently writing for their new album and I´m glad they exist because there aren´t that many numetal bands from Italy popular outside of their borders. |

Did you know that?
Def Leppard´s drummer, Rick Allen, lost an arm in a car crash in 1984. However, Rick decided to keep on playing, and learned to do it with his feet and some programmed drum lines. The band continued as normal, and their next album with their "new" drummer was "Hysteria".
