Ecliptica is a heavy metal band with some modern influences from Austria. This is a band that features both a male and a female singer. They sing OK but the songs don’t have the right trademarks to catch my attention. It’s like a mixture of Edguy meets Within Temptation but not as strong. I think this is an album that will be forgotten pretty fast because there are a lot better releases right now. There are a couple of songs that shows that there’s some potential for sure.
Land Of Silence is a nice up-tempo rocker with great melodic riffs and hooklines, the chorus is great. Twilight Hall is an OK heavy metal rocker. The rockballad Turn Away sounds like a mixture of Meat Loaf and Robby Valentine with great piano sound but too bad that the chorus don’t lift. The production is OK with a modern feel over it and I have nothing to complain on. An album with a few highlights that don’t save this album. But if they release more albums there could be some light at the end of the tunnel. Not bad but nothing extraordinary. |

Eclosion is one man with a lot of synthesizers, Gabriel Ayala has written, performed and produced this album all by himself and while listening to it - I must say that he probably eats Nine Inch Nails cds for breakfast and has a Gary Numan poster hanging on the wall over his bed. The sound is similar to the soundtrack music of the horror movie Underworld and sometimes I start to wonder if Ayala shouldn?t try to compose soundtrack music instead because these songs needs pictures. His strongest side are his production skills and compositions while the weak side is unfortunately his vocals, Gabriel should let someone else sing his songs or he should simply just record instrumental music. There are moments when he sound like Ace Frehley (Kiss) and that is only charming but all of us Kiss fans knows that Ace shouldn?t sing more than 1-2 songs on an album. But I love the haunting machinery music! |

Eden Lost is a new Spanish Melodic Hardrock/AOR band from Madrid that was formed in 1999 and the current line up is Ignacio Prieto (vocals ex- Niagara), Javier Gallego(keys), Javier Nieto(guitars) and Jes?s Laso(guitars). This is their debut album which is filled with great tough AOR in the veins of 80s Bon Jovi, Firehouse, Red Dawn and Stone Soup. This may not be as polished as the bands above but out of the tracks on the album there are plenty of hookladen songs that will hook you up. This is very guitaroriented but don?t worry, the keyboards are there as well and makes the sound melodic. I have to say that this is a new sensation from Spain and I haven?t heard this good stuff from Spain since Sangre Azul and Rafa Martin. The album has been produced by Jose del Pozo who previously was involved in recordings with Foo Fighters and Blink 182. Singer Ignacio Prieto has a slightly hoarse but powerful voice and suits the sound of Eden Lost just perfect.
I can say that this album is very solid with a couple of highlights and I must say that I can?t find a single filler, 10 quality songs. If I would pick out some of the tracks then I would start with Burn. This is an awesome rocker with a huge powerful chorus with brilliant hooklines and even some dut-dut keyboards that makes this the winning song of the album. Brilliant stuff. Saturday Nite is another rocker that reminds a lot of early Bon Jovi with strong guitarriffs. Only Girls has a chorus that reminds a bit of Danger Danger and the whole song is filled with hooks and lovely guitars. If You Need...You Can Count On Me is a nice mid-tempo rocker. The acoustic/piano ballad In Your Eyes is wonderful in the best Firehouse style. This is an album that made me smile even more when I heard it because I?m a sucker for this kind of AOR/MHR and it?s always great to find new tremendous surprises like Eden Lost. Their music is made for listening to in the car and is a perfect summer AOR album. Check out these new Spanish newcomers because their debut album is very strong and is filled with great music. |

Here's a really good melodic hard rock CD that I received from Spanish band EDEN LOST. Those of you who are into bands like GOTTHARD, as well as Swedish ECLIPSE or TALISMAN at times. Soundwise they are somewhere between the classical 80's melodic hard rock and the slightly more modern 90's stuff in the same genre. Especially the guitar department is worth lending an extra ear towards, with some real nice solos. Songwise also a real nice CD to listen to - check out the title track för example. "Breaking the silence" is a rocking piece with nice variations and an infectuous chorus. Same goes for "Hard to believe" which is one of the slightly softer hard rockers on the album. Another rocking tune I recommend is "March the 11th".
Not so much to complain about with EDEN LOST, however the production is a bit dry. When listening to the whole CD in a row, I get a bit bored by lead vocalist Ignacio Prieto's voice, but it's no big deal. He's a good singer and this is an album well worth checking out! |

Eden Sands is a new heavy melodic hardrock band from France. Their vocalist Stefan Tudela fronted the band Northwind a few years ago. This is an album with good performance, production and vocals but they don’t have the songs that could catch the attention. There are so many both new and old bands that delivers this kind of music and I´m afraid that Eden Sands will be forgotten pretty fast.
Some of the songs has great power with heavy riffs and melodies but after you heard the songs you won’t remember it for very long. The only song that made me stop for a while was Taste Of Hope with a nice melodic chorus. If I would compare this with other bands I would say Symphony X, Yngwie Malmsteen, Edguy and a twist of Skid Row but without the same quality in songs. |

This is a concept album that can be described in the best way as having Mnemic doing their own version of Queensryche?s "Operation Mindcrime", the Italian based band Edenshade plays futuristic metal with a touch of progressive metal where the musicianship lies on a very high level. I think these guys could pull off any Dream Theater song without any problem but the weakest link in their sound is their singer who needs to practice on his English - just too much of that Italian accent I?m afraid making the vocal part not worth more than 2 stars. However, the production and music reaches 4 stars easily so the overall impression ends at 3. Play this loud! |

Edge Of Forever is one of MTM Music?s finest signings lately, if you?re into solid melodic hard rock with AOR touches then I think you should mark your calendar for May 24 because that?s the date when this album is being released.
Edge Of Forever is more of a project than a band featuring the great singer Bob Harris from AXE who also has worked with Frank Zappa. Keyboards are handled by Alessandro Del Vecchio plus guitar solos are played by Marcel Jacob who also produced the album but the basswork is played by Christian Grillo. Jeff Scott Soto sings a duet with Harris on the powerful "Prisoner" which sounds like it could be one of Yngwie Malmsteen?s finest compositions.
J.S. Soto handles all the background vocals as well, "Feeding The Fire" could very well be one of this year?s best hard rock/AOR releases coz it?s a true gem for all lovers of AXE, Talisman and Crown of Thorns.
The bombastic "Mother Of Darkness" sounds like Bon Jovi from the "Slippery When Wet" heyday but in a more pompous way like having Royal Hunt performing it.
The title track "Feeding The Fire" could?ve been taken from one of AXEs latest albums and the 2nd track "Birth Of The Sun" is some real AOR candy.
The fast rocker "Bloodsucker" is the only weak tune...it?s just too much of a typical Talisman song with quite a boring chorus. The power ballad "The Road We Walked On" is filled with cliches but it?s done with lots of feeling from Bob Harris who really has that magic Jean Beavoir voice on that particular song.
As a matter of fact, that AOR ballad could just as well be a Crown of Thorns tune......Ahoy! where are you Beavoir? Well I have said it once and I will say it again.....Bob?s vocals couldn?t be better,it?s marvellous and the mighty layers of keyboards will make any fan of 80?s AOR really happy.
I know for a fact that you will see many reviews with high ratings on AOR sites for this album in the coming month. |

Edge Of Forever is here with their 2nd album. They have managed to come up with an even stronger album than the high acclaimed debut Feeding The Fire. The debut was released last year and was filled with great hardrock with a 80s touch. This is a band with musicians from Italy and a lead singer from The States. The singer is the fantastic Bob Harris that is actually part of legendary band AXE. This new album sounds so much like later AXE with lots of hooklines, melodies and powerful vocals, I have to say that this is a one helluve hardrock album. The man behind AXE Bobby Barth has produced the album with a fantastic result. There is plenty of groove and energyfilled rockers on the album with high quality. Just listen to the fantastic Pompish One Last Surrender with a awesome powerful chorus and pure magical melodies in the best AXE/Guild Of Ages style. One of this years best hardrock songs so far. Let The Demon Rock?n? Roll is a rocker that growns for every spin, The Rainbow/Deep Purple sounding rocker Crime Of Passion is maybe one of the least good tracks on the album but the hammondsolo is brilliant. The powerballad A Deep Emotion is pure magic with brilliant vocals from Mr. Harris. In My Eyes is a strong AOR/MHR up-tempo song with a classy hookladen chorus filled with strong background vocals and harmonies. Well, the final conclusion is that Edge Of Forever has done a first class 80s hardrock album with fantastic songs with a top-notch sound. So fans of AXE will for sure have a album they will play again and again and don?t have to eagerly wait for a new AXE album. If youre looking for prime time hardrock with class then you don?t have to look any further because Edge Of Forever will provide all your wants. |

| Edge Of Forever are back with a brand new 3rd album called Another Paradise. The mastermind behind this band is keyboardplayer Alessandro Del Vecchio. The debut was released in 2004 called Feeding The Fire and had Bob Harris from Axe on vocals. Jeff Scott Soto did a duet with Bob Harris on the debut. 2nd album Let The Demon Rock ´N´ Roll was released 2005 yet again with Bob Harris on vocals. This time around Alessandro has taken over the vocals and has done a great job, he sounds very impressive. This is a great album filled with fantastic melodic hardrock with AOR touches. The keyboards has a big roll in EOF sound and they have come up strong melodies, hooks, powerful and catchy choruses. The production on this album is perfect and the album sounds huge. Distant Voices is a powerful rocker with big hooks and great harmonies. The keyboards are awesome on this one. Another Paradise is a riff strong rocker with a powerful chorus with great background vocals. Lonely is a AOR/Pomp song with a brilliant chorus, a song that reminds of Frontline meets Biloxi. Best song on the album is the bombastic Edge Of Life, this is a huge sounding rocker with a fantastic chorus were Carsten “Lizard” Schulz (Evidence One) sings background vocals. They do a brilliant cover of Irene Cara´s classic song What A Feeling and this version rocks big time with heavy riffs, pompish keyboards and huge background vocals. The only song that feels average is My Revenge that is just OK nothing more. Another Paradise is damn good album and I think this is their best so far. So if you enjoy bands like Axe (there later stuff), Guild Of Ages, Rox Diamond and Frontline then this is something you MUST check out. |

| Edgehill Avenue is a rootsy rock band that has moved from their acoustic roots to a more rock oriented sound, this quintet is fronted by Drew Perkins and he definitely has a voice made for this bluesy southern rock with traces of country and folk. The album starts really good where my favorites are "With these hands" and "Just another day" that both bring thoughts to Tony Carey´s solo career. The mid section of the album is a bit weaker though and more country inspired, track 8 "Holding on" and track 9 "Out of time" can be described as Van Morrison meeting Allman Brothers Band and both tracks are very nice. An uneven album with a few good moments! |

Vancouver based Edges of Seven began as the one man endevour of guitarist/singer/songwriter Robert Takacs, soon he was joined by former Frontline Assembly drummer Jay Hagan, keyboardist Corey Hunt, guitarist Mark Santacattarina and bassist Ryan Smith who tragically passed away on August 2nd, 2006 at the age of 28. Eo7´s debut album "Born again hard" is dedicated to Ryan´s memory. The band is completed by bassist Steve Booth and guitarist Carmelo Bruzzese, the groovy single "I hide" is available at iTunes and can be streamed at myspace along with a few other songs off this 9 track album.
They have supported Helmet and Econoline Crush, when I hear the compact opening track "Future truth" I do believe it´s perfect as a show starter. My favorite is "Fantasy defined" that would please the perfectionist Klayton of Celldweller more than enough while "From love to hate" has elements of Rammstein (their early albums). For fans of: Arthur Kill, NIN, Celldweller and Rob Zombie |

This album by Edgewater is now a couple of years old, but is a really good independent release and is quite interesting since some of the songs will end up on their Wind-Up debut ?South of sideways? due to be released the 6th of April. I haven?t seen the full trackinglist for the forthcoming album, but at least 2 from ?Lifter? will end up on it according what can be read on their website. But I wouldn?t be that surprised we could see a couple more on it from this 2001 release, cause there are a couple of other nice rockers in the Nickelback/Puddle of Mudd district.
Both the little softer title track and the edgier tunes ?Neglected? and ?Echo? must be hot candidates for the Wind-up debut, cause they?re too good for just being on this quite rare independent album. We will quite soon know their destiny that it can be a nice modern rock surprise after having heard this good release.
?Lifter? isn?t an album that you got to have in your collection, but if you see it I recommend you to get because it?s rare and has a handful of real nice modern rock tunes. One odd thing is that the band does a cover of Tom Petty?s ?I won?t back down? from ?Full moon fever?. A cool cover that gives us an idea how Tom Petty would have sounded if he had grew up in Seattle 20 years later. |

The closest you can get to numetal without actually being numetal is this latest Wind Up signing Edgewater, which can be added to the more tough modern rock bands like Fuel and Cold. "South Of Sideways" contains 7 reworked tracks from the indie release "Lifter" (2001) and also 5 new tracks.
Like every amalgamation of music styles, the genre will be overfed with bands sounding much the same, bringing nothing new to the table and so it is with Edgewater. I guess you remember the heydays of AOR in the 80?s when all was sun and dance during the first few years and then we had bands from all kinds of places that had no personality at all.
It?s the same way with both the punk pop genre and the modern rock bands of today, maybe the best albums already have been recorded between 98-2002 and now we?re just looking at copycats that keep doing the same record all over again.
Edgewater is a good band writing good songs and they perform them real well but what?s not good is their lack of personality. I have heard 30 albums sounding this way just as good or even better. Oh yeah, it?s a safe buy because you know what you?re getting but where?s the excitement?......Surprise me anyone!!!! Of course they will sell copies and most likely can also be quite successful but in the long run Edgewater will be just another forgettable band!
2nd track "Science Of It All" is without doubt the best song on the album, with a very cool keyboard line in the verse.
You will be satisfied for the moment with this record no doubt about that but if I ask you again in a couple of years I know you will have forgotten about how it sounded. |

Dallas based Edgewater went the same road as Seven Wiser,Alter Bridge,BoyHitsCar & Cauterize and had to deal with the Wind up guillotine. The official statement is that they parted ways with the label and that ofcourse looks better for both parts, just like what singer Matt sings on the opening track "Now it?s time to get it right" speaks for the whole matter. They are now back to square one releasing their 3rd album independently just like the first album "Lifter" in 2001,maybe the title "We?re not robots" has something to do with their former label - what do I know? But the first sentence that comes in mind is - Deliver hitsingles or you?ll have to leave! Ok,I wasn?t that much of a fan of their previous album "South of sideways" but still,it was a competent modern rock record so I can understand their fans. The new album follows the same tradition of mainstream modern rock/numetal coz they are heavy from time to time, perhaps "We?re not robots" is their heaviest effort so far but I will leave that up to their fans to decide, singer Matt Moseman sure sounds a bit frustrated and angry on these 10 new songs - he hasn?t screamed this much on any of the previous releases. "Digging for sounds" is a nice song that stands out of the mainstream formula, this album is a safe buy for all who loves their Wind up album. |

I haven?t exactly been rocking a lot to the German powermetallers Edguy in the past, that side of metal with bands like Helloween and Gamma Ray on the same side of the fence has never lightened up my life like NWOBHM did but I enjoyed their cover of Ultravox "Hymn" on "Vain glory opera" (1998). Tobias Sammet has a voice similar to Geoff Tate and his Avantasia Metal opera part 2 from 2002 truly was a peak in his career, the new album "Rocket ride" is Edguy?s 7th studio album in 10 years and only the title track from the "Superheroes" EP (released october 2005) is included on the new album. Perhaps Sammet and Co?s new album is their most melodic and epic sounding effort so far, many of the songs are keyboard based and not so fast either (only 2 tracks are upspeeded). I find myself stand playing airkeyboards to the Pretty Maids sounding "Matrix" and gladely singing along to the opening track "Sacrifice". The distorted voice "guitar" solo from Sammet on "Return of the tribe" is hysterical, talk about lots of humour! I?m not so sure I appreciate their tropicometal of "Trinidad" though, that one goes down the drain. "Rocket ride" is classic metal with no compromises and it?s good too. |
