Inside the Tour program and here at www.takeactiontour.com, you will learn how you can Take Action in your community and how the artists on the Tour and accompanying Take Action! CD are making a difference of their own.
You may be wondering what Take Action means. Like most things in life, names have different meanings to different people. To some, Take Action means a tour of cool punk and hardcore bands; to others, it means a CD compilation series filled with tons of well-known bands that comes out every year; and to others, Take Action means saving lives from suicide by finding warning signs early and realizing there are people who can help. To us at Sub City, Take Action is the idea that we will not wait for our world, our country, our government, our teachers, or even our parents to make ours and other people?s lives better, creating a better world...one voice and one action at a time!
Since 2001, the Take Action Tour has been teamed up with the National Hopeline Network, 1-800-SUICIDE(784-2433), and thanks to the petition gathering and fundraising from fans like you, suicide and the mental health challenges leading to suicide have gained national attention in the halls of government. Since last year, The Hopeline has become associated with the National Mental Health Association and now has the Youth America Hotline at 1-877-YOUTHLINE(968-8454), offering young people a network of their peers to turn to in times of crisis. Over the years, the tour has had the pleasure of working with bands such as Jimmy Eat World, Thrice, Thursday, Hot Water Music, Poison The Well, and many more; our title sponsor Hot Topic, other partner companies and sponsors like Chord Magazine, MTVU, Purevolume, Alternative Press Magazine, Tower Records, Etnies, Fanscape, Stim TV and many others; and we have received thousands of government-funding petition signatures and thousands of e-mails and letters from many of you who have been impacted by the tour.
So here we are, the 2007 Take Action Tour and CD, with another awesome lineup and goals of having an even bigger impact on the fans of the series and the causes for which they work. Whether you are just coming out for the music or you are more interested in the charitable aspect of the tour, we hope you enjoy yourself and encourage you to Take Action and make your lives and your community better, one voice, one action at a time.
