Jasper Sloan Yip is a multi-genre singer/songwriter with a dynamic and versatile band behind him. His musical career began with the release of his solo debut "White Elephant" under the moniker "the Blenheim Street Project" in the summer of 2007. Recorded at home with a single broken microphone, "White Elephant" was the first and only public expression of Jaspers songwriting. For the release, Jasper built a stage in the backyard of his childhood home with his father and performed for the first time, until the police arrived. Three days later, Jasper left for a trip that spanned ten months, fourteen countries, and three continents. His experiences on the road not only gave him the resolve to take music seriously when he got home, but also accounted for most of the subject matter for his next album. Jasper returned to Vancouver in early 2008, with fresh eyes for the world and a new hunger to play music. He soon met Mark Brichon, adding bass, banjo, and lap steel to his live performances. Drummer Graham Serl joined the band in August of 2009, a month before Jasper headed into Vertical Studios with producer Tom Dobrzanski (Said the Whale, We are the City). The album, entitled "Every Day and All at Once" was completed by early October. Before 2009 was out, Jasper added Violinist Stephanie Chatman and Keyboardist John Tanner to the roster. Within a month of completing the album, the first single, Kiddo was receiving regular play on CBC Radio Three. By the time the album was released on March 6th, 2010, Jasper had been played on all three CBC Radio channels, including a live performance on Radio One. Most recently, the band recorded six songs for CBC Radio Three podcast that has yet to be released.
