Hey it´s me. Haven´t talked to you in a while, so here´s what I´ve been up to. When last we left off i had made a couple of records, Applause of the Rain (2003) and The New Nostalgia (2006). i toured some, met lots of people at colleges and clubs and boats and buses in new york and nowhere and then went home. lots of you bought those records and lot´s more of you bought songs from them like Begin to Cry (TNN) and Hold on Tight (AOTR) and so i thought maybe i´d go ahead and make another one. but then.... as i was beginning to do just that, i met some guys who needed a record of their own and i thought, hey i can help and it won´t take but a minute. so the lights dimmed out and the stage went quiet, and i became a record producer. now let´s face it, i´ve always been a fancy dressed, heavily opinionated, sort of guy, so this was really just a matter of time. speaking of time, that record led to the next and the next and none of them were MY record, you remember, the one we were talking about just a minute ago. right. well, guess what, and who could believe it? MY record is finally done. i, the pop, sing-songwriter, acoustic, whatever.. guy, has been hanging around making records at a studio (the blasting room) that does punk all day and night. and last year i snuck off to nashville to produce a comeback country record, which is whole other story for another time... so, those punkers and i made some noise and i called a couple of country music playing friends and we rolled tape. thus was born the Leadfoot Lover EP, the unholy union of all things christopher jak. but wait, there´s more. early in the mornings and late in the evenings, during the rare moments that the studio was quiet, i did something completely different. andrew berlin, my production partner and engineer, would set up a microphone and i would play and sing. just like that. that´s it. then we sprinkled a drummer who whispers and a bass player who hums and steel player who couldn´t be bothered over some of it, but just some... and thus was born, the FolK EP. i can´t tell you how excited i am to share all of this new music with you and to get out and play it live. the live part i´m working on as we speak, but the records are ready. i´m keeping them digital only so don´t wait until they hit stores or anything. take´m for a spin, take´m for a long ride, take´m home, break´m in, wear´m out, wear them like your favorite shirt with holes in the cuffs, your favorite boots with a new shine, share them like old memories and and a new crush, then come back here and tell me about it. i love to hear from you. jak
