Discoveringartists.com calls Washington, DC native, Leah Morgan ?an artist to watch. Her feminine voice and intoxicating melodies are sure to grab the attention of many, and respect of even more.? Her unique, eclectic sound has been favorably compared to artists such as Aimee Mann, Ben Folds, and Lisa Loeb, to name a few. Over the past two years, Leah has appeared at benefit concerts, showcases, festivals and venues all over the DC area and along the east coast, amassing a devoted following through her innovative music and engaging live performances, whether in front of her four-piece band or simply accompanying herself on alternating piano and guitar.
Leah is currently promoting the release of her first full-length recording on her label, Square Plate Records. The album, Zero Dollars Spent, released in September 2003, features nine original songs comprising what Pablo Langhome of LeftofftheDial.com describes as a "musically diverse? instantly memorable release." The album has received glowing reviews, and was among the 10 top-selling albums on the website where it is available online, www.awarestore.com. Leah and her band will be making appearances at colleges, festivals, radio shows, and venues throughout the Mid-Atlantic region to promote the release of her CD.
The band is Leah Morgan on vocals/piano/guitar, Tom Hnatow (of Otis Finch and Viki Nova) on lead guitar, Paul Frields (who has worked with Danny Blitz, Steve McWilliams, and Jenny Boyle, among others) on bass guitar and Chapman Stick, and Rich Nagel (whose past projects include Sean Michael Dargan, Ice Boxers, The Toronados, and Jenny Boyle) on drums. The group made its debut over the winter holidays of 2002 to a house concert audience well exceeding 100, following the show up with a CD release party at Iota Club & Caf? in early September. Today, Leah continues to bring her distinct brand of music to an ever-growing, widespread and diverse audience.
