Bio

Bursting onto the music scene with her uncompromising 2005 debut album Ringing in My Head, 22-year old Orlando native Cori Yarckin has defined herself as an engagingly original artist in an age of cookie cutter pop clones. Her propulsive songcraft blends confessional lyrics with modern rock attitude and sharp pop melodies, offering a radio-ready sound that is often compared to a modern day Pat Benatar. On record, or through her breathtaking live show, Cori Yarckin soars with passion and intensity of a young artist set to leave her mark on music fans in need of a fresh voice.

A driven performer from an early age, Cori Yarckin has been laying the groundwork for her music career over the past 15 years. With early industry experience that saw success both as a dancer (studying with such legendary performers as Gregory Hines) and a professional actress (on Nickelodeon?s Noah Knows Best), Cori was most recently seen showcasing her talents on UPN?s popular 2005 music-based reality show, The Road to Stardom with Missy Elliott.

?Music is my first love and I?ve definitely paid my dues,? she shares. ?It?s been a long road developing my style and what I wanted to say within my songs. Four years ago they could have pushed me into a box and released a song that didn?t reflect who I was, but I didn?t want to do it that way, I wanted to grow on my own and figure out
what I had to say as an artist.?

Solidifying her stance as a performer unafraid to voice her feelings and carve out her own identity, Cori has developed an intimate and memorable songwriting style that expresses both her strengths and weaknesses as a young adult dealing with life, love and sense of self in today?s world. ?I set out to make a record that people can relate to and sing along with,? she explains. ?I have a defined pop sensibility, but I also love to get aggressive and rock?- and that balance of styles is one of the most important things that sets my music apart. My songs are in tune with the way people really feel, and it?s important for me to create music that a large section of music fans can connect with in a number of different ways. I think that?s exactly what we achieved with Ringing in My Head.?

As Cori?s fans will assure you, however, the album is only half the story?as her live show is an experience all its own. Performing nationally with her 4-piece rock band, Cori?s command of her talent shines brightest in person, complimenting the exuberance of her music with an infectious stage presence and blinding energy. Set to support Ringing in My Head with an East coast tour tentatively scheduled for the summer of 2005, Cori Yarckin is excited about what the future holds in store as she prepares to share her music with an ever-growing fanbase.

?I?m looking forward to bringing my music across to an even wider audience,? Cori says. ?I believe in these songs, and the messages within them. This music comes from somewhere inside me, and hopefully I will be able to inspire other people with this album. These are songs that say something about what I am feeling, and what other girls my age are experiencing. My music is empowering at times and vulnerable at other times. It?s real, like me. Real songs, real music, a real girl ? that?s what I have to offer.?
