After two years of speculation, members of Australian band, GERSEY, can confirm that they have begun work on a brand new studio album of original material. It will be their first such release since 2006.
The band last got together to play the national support slot for friends and forebears, Pavement, on their 2010 reunion tour. The tour was extremely memorable and reintroduced the band to the chemistry that they once enjoyed before life dragged them into other various projects and, at times, onto different continents. After that experience, the band began to write and play together again, resulting in a promising collection of new compositions. Their next step is to head into the studio to commit them to tape.
Thanks to the people at Pozible, GERSEY have been accepted to launch a crowdfunding campaign through the site, which will allow the band to fund the production of the album through pre-orders. Fans are now invited to log in and register their pledge in support of the band's 4th album.
The goal is to raise $5000. The band themselves have contributed $5000 of their own money, with the belief that $10,000 would give them enough of a budget to make an absolutely cracking new record. If the goal is met within the time limit, the album will begin production in mid September 2012. If a figure exceeding the target is raised, the band has advised that the stakes will be raised from making an “absolutely cracking album” to making an album that is “simply sublime”. In either case, contributors will receive a copy of the album before the official release date. If, for some reason, the goal is not met and the project is unable to go ahead, all contributors will have their pledges cancelled / returned.
$25 is what it will cost to pre-order your copy of the album. Opportunities also exist to go above and beyond with some special rewards offered to those who can. All contributions are welcomed and recognised. The campaign will run for 63 days and must be completed by 10th of September, 2012.
The band is eager to share this new collection of songs with fans old and new. They are also delighted to have the opportunity to include fans directly in the creation of their 4th studio album.
