Band Of Horses New Album "Mirage Rock" Details + New Single
Band of Horses just brought this year full circle. Every artist we’ve had our eye on has been releasing some sort of material. While unexpected, this falls in line with their past recordings. Typically a release is seen from BOH occurs every one and a half to two years (as is for other artists). In this case, the country-esque Infinite Arms was their last effort in 2010 and, in my opinion, a bit of a let-down. Now, we have a new single and the band’s fourth album titled Mirage Rock which will be released on September 18th.
From the video below for “Knock Knock”, the first single off of Band of Horses 10-track album, Mirage Rock, takes an approach like that of “Laredo”. As we’ve known Band of Horses since their first release, songs like “Great Salt Lake” swoon from rock anthems to heartfelt ballads such as “No One’s Gonna Love You”. Not that each band needs to live up to singles such as “The Funeral”, but hardly any traces of their first two albums were found in Infinite Arms.
Band of Horses’ Southern backyard-folk style in Infinite Arms involved some beautiful string instruments not typically found in rock albums, a more prominent twang to each song and deviated far away from what drew their fanbase to begin with. Although albums such as these may not be lauded by people such as myself, I will still admit that there some great tracks eventually rose to the surface between listens. That said, given the adrenaline pump “Knock Knock” delivers, which is above what BOH’s first single from Infinite Arms “Laredo” deceived me with, MUF will speculate a positive outlook for album #4.
