The same label that gave us Houston last year is back with a new release. Sencelled is a Swedish four-piece melodic rock/modern AOR band that will take the world by storm. If Houston delivered pure classic 80s AOR then, Sencelled will take you a step forward and give you a more updated melody driven rock/AOR with hints of power pop with stunning harmonies and awesome hooks.
I would say that this is a splendid mixture of Rick Springfield, Stage Dolls and the Finnish rockers The Giant Leap. There are songs on this album that made me think of Canadian bands such as Honeymoon Suite and Haywire in the melodies and the wonderful harmonies and arrangements throughout the whole album. The powerful vocals from Erik Holmberg is just great and some parts reminds of Johnny Dee (Honeymoon Suite) and Paul MacAusland (Haywire). Ricky B Delin who produced Houston´s debut album has done a first class work on the production on this one and come up with a fine result.
They open the album with the first single Breath Out. This is a fantastic pop/rocker with an outstanding AORish chorus with huge background vocals, I’m speechless. I Love The Way You Are and Wild One is two Rick Springfield rockers all the way with crunchy guitars and wonderful melodies and with catchy harmony filled choruses. Miracle is a stunning AOR-rocker with a sing-a-long chorus that will hook you up for sure, a song that reminds of Haywire. Oh Sarah is a beautiful ballad that is written for radio for sure and song that made me think of another Swedish band called Broken Door. I Wanted You is a superb hook laden AOR-rocker with brilliant harmonies and I love the keyboards in the background.
Tommy & Gina is a brilliant pop/rocker with stunning melodies that gives it an AORish feel over the song and the chorus is catchy and it’s hard to get out of your head. They have some guests on the album such as Tommy Denander, Mats Olausson, Kristoffer Lagerstrom (Spin Gallery) and HankErix (Houston). There’s not a single filler on the album and Sencelled has recorded an awesome debut album that will be on many Top-lists this year. This is an album I recommend highly and it will be released later this month.
