Being the son of one of the greatest musicians ever lived, John Lennon may not be that easy if you also want to have your own career. Of course, Julian have had a big advantage to have that father, but can also not avoid being compared with him, the man that more or less started the pop and rock genre.
He has since his debut Valotte 1984 managed to release six albums, but has the last two decades been that active with only releasing two albums.
Everything Changes is the first we have heard from him since 1998’s Photograph Smile, but an album well worth waiting for. This is for me one of the best releases of 2011 with a stunning collection of songs from beginning to end and in a very rich production. He has previously written several great songs with artists like Mark Spiro, but may feel that the albums haven’t been that completely. Everything Changes is a big exception with fantastic songs from start to end with plenty of thoughtfulness and lovely harmonies. It is a bit dreamy in it’s sound and relatively quiet, yet it has an amazing production that makes it very big in some way.
Highlights when it comes to songs are "Just For You" and "Disconnected", written with Mark Spiro, but the beautiful "Hold On" and "Touch The Sky" are tracks not to be missed. So if you're good looking and well-made pop, this is an album not to be missed since pop does not get much better than this.
James Hetfield got the idea for "Nothing Else Matters" one day he was talking on the phone and with his free hand strummed the strings in a particular order. He hung up and inmediately started working on the song.
