Review

The Paramount Sessions is a double cd including one cd recorded in 2005 with Adam Lambert as a session singer and the other cd with songs from New Zealand based award winning artist Steve Cooke. They are both performing songs written by Dublyn Jones and this is a legal release that the producers own the rights for, Lambert has voiced his displeasure about The Paramount Sessions through twitter but he does not own the rights to the recordings. If you want a new studio album from Lambert, you have to wait til spring 2012 when his new official album comes out. There will be another pre-American idol record coming out in November called "Beg for mercy" that was recorded with Lambert´s band Citizen Vain. But I think Lambert´s fans shouldn´t complain about this release and instead be glad of hearing their idol singing on a bunch of unreleased songs, this is pretty good. Just listen to "Fields" or "Castleman" where Lambert shows what an amazing singer he is.

Both cd´s features the backing band of Seal and Madonna with Monte Pittman on guitar, Marcus Brown on bass/keyboards and Steve Sidelnyk on drums. The style of the music can be described as classic rock with a touch of americana, I really like Steve Cooke´s voice that reminds of Chris Rea meets Dan Lucas and at times, also Jimmy Barnes. Cooke released an album in 2008 called "Broken country" and he has also played in theatre musicals such as Hair and The Who´s Tommy. The best songs here are "Gravity", "Lover" and "Radio" that bring thoughts to Roger Daltrey. I highly recommend this album!
