There are a few good albums that I did overlook from 2011. Hell Or Highwater was one of them and recently I stumbled across Ghosts of August. They play hard rock music in the same vein as Crossfade, Three Days Grace and The Veer Union. So this is no music that will revolutionize the rock world but it is a safe bet if you like the genre.
This is a hard hitting album through and through, not many soft songs are squeezed into the mix. One thing that is good about this album is that it is easy to draw comparisons to other bands. For example, Thinking of You sounds very much Three Days Grace, The Crutch has traces from Story of the Year and Broken reminds me of The Veer Union. But you know what? None of this matter if you like those other bands and I do. Broken is also one of my standout tracks on here, along with Scars and Disease.
If you are still searching for the forgotten gems of 2011, have a listen to this album as it is really worth it. The production is flawless and the mixing as well. You know what you get when you buy this album and what you get is quality modern rock. Nothing more and nothing less and sometimes that is all we need. This was released digitally late 2011 and if you, like me, missed it then, be sure to check it out now!
