Here is a nice guy to check out if you like the softer side of the new modern pop-era of Christian music. Artists like Michael O?Brien, Greg Long, Clay Crosse and you know the other 127 guys playing softer but very well done AOR-pop with an acoustic edge. And I must say Scott Riggan (who had a band before called The Nobodys btw) plays in the same division. Sure, this type of music doesn?t grab the heart out of you. It?s done for having a good time and have a nice CD in the room while reading a good music-mag or book, or if you have invited a nice girl for dinner.
The most impressing with this album is the quality in this style of music. It?s exactly as good sounding as the previous mentioned major-label artists, and if you have a weakness for this softer pop-orientated refrain-based type of music, Scott?s album is sure a check out. But if you think this side of the scene is far too wimpy and glittering, don?t bother. It?s quite strange that this guy doesn?t have a contract with Word or some of the other labels dealing with this sort of music. Perhaps it?s on the way. I wish him all the luck.
