Review

Instrumentalist/Guitarist Michael Harris that has 4 instrumental albums behind him tries something new on his new album "Words collide",not only he?s handling the guitars and the bass-Michael is also singing on this progressive metal record.
He?s a very talented guitarist and an okay songwriter but he?s not
a lead singer-Michael could very well do the background vocals because he?s hitting the right notes but he doesn?t have *the voice* if you know what I mean, the music is somewhere between Fates Warning and Blue Murder.....progressive in a way but also a little classical hard rock.
The production is a bit thin so he should have had some help from the outside instead of doing it all by himself I think, the first part of the record is quite good with songs like "Mask of desception","Myopia" and the title track "Words collide".
Also the eastern oriental inspired "Cosmic dezert" at the end of the album stands out but overall the 14 songs feels just like a little too much and as I said,Michael should bring in a lead singer and a producer-and then we can talk again because he is very gifted.

Did you know that?

Before MATCHBOX TWENTY was due to go onstage, they would get in a huddle and sing the 1978 heat wave hit "Always and Forever".
