Review

Lunatica is a female fronted band from Switzerland that are very famous in their homecountry. Fables & Dreams is their 2nd album - in 2001 they released the debut album called Atlantis.

This 5-piece act delivers powerful symphonic metal in the same league as Nightwish, Royal Hunt and Within Temptation. Personally I think this is better than Nightwish and that?s because of Andrea D?twyler?s voice. She don?t have that strong opera sound in her voice and that makes this sound better, but that?s a matter of taste.

For this second album the band has worked with the successful producer Sascha Paeth (Rhapsody, Kamelot, Edguy, Angar) and he has created a fantastic powerful sound on the album.
The album is filled with huge hooklines and a marvellous mixture of guitars and keyboards. The arrangements on the album is done with class. The only thing that puts down the grade is the variation of the songs coz they sound very much like each other but that?s the only downpoint on this album.

They also do a nice cover of the Ultravox song ?Hymn? that is OK. Other highlights are ?Avalon?, ?Elements?, ?Fables & Dreams? (beautiful ballad) and the wonderful ?A Little Moment Of Desperation? that are the ones that stands out more than the rest.
One more thing that is great with this album is that the longest song is just over 6 minutes and you never lose the grip of the songs.

A must for Nightwish fans for sure.
