Mette Sommer is a Norwegian girl, born and raised in Manhattan, USA and now living in Gothenburg Sweden. Shes just releasing her new album "Another Step" and that is helluva hard record to put under one genre. There are tons of cool references. Imagine a mix between Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Madonna, Third Matinee, Teitur and Kevin Gilbert and we?re quite near the garden of Mettes music. The production signed by "the Swedish Pat Leonard", P?r Edwardsson and the mix from the norwegian maestro Bj?rn Nessjoe doesnt have much more to wish for. Its very professional. So its an album I can recommend you all to check out, and her cover of the Yes-tune "Wonderous Stories" is very good and other fave tracks on here are "Going To Heaven" (a helluva tune) and "Where Are You" with a very nice atmosphere. Anything to complain about then? Hmmm... this is not a big complaint but Im not the biggest fan of her voice. I think its very much the same on all the songs and I would have desired a more expressive voice to the great soundscape. But you may have another taste regarding the vocals from her, cause its not bad, just not my "sort of fave-voice". I could just imagine Richard Page on this material. Musicvize its a 4. Vocalvize its a 2. So the summary is a 3.
