Review

The multi musician Henning Pauly has recorded the new Frameshift album together with lead singer Sebastian Bach but what he didn?t expect was the legal matter that would follow with the release of the new album.
There?s more about who wrote what on "An absence of empathy" than actually the music itself,Bach wasn?t too happy to read that he didn?t get credit for more songs which he says he was involved in of the co-writing of the album but on the other hand - Henning Pauly says the opposite and that Bach wasn?t at all involved that much as he?s arguing about and now it?s a matter for the lawyers.
No matter who?s right, the new album is heavier than the first one that featured James LaBrie on vocals.
But just like the first one,the drumsound is too thin and too low in the mix on the new album and it drags down the rating.
Another thing that is a big minus is the long running time of 75 minutes,Henning just can?t write music to keep you interested during the whole album.
There are some really great progmetal moments on "An absence......" and you probably haven?t heard Sebastian Bach this progressive before which is nice but the structure on some of the songs feels messed up and whatever happened with writing a good melody without 27 complex instrumental and technical masturbation parts tearing it all down??!!
OK album,no more no less.

Did you know that?

The name Depeche Mode was inspired by a French fashion magazine of the same name.
