The major label debut from the windy city of Chicago band Fall out boy sounds like Elvis Costello on dope hanging out with Blink 182 on a party at Howard Stern?s place. This is singalong punkpop with humour and a cool touch of emorock, you cannot do anything else than laugh at their gorgeous song titles or what do you say about "Our lawyer made us change the name of this song so we wouldn?t get sued" or "I slept with someone in Fall out boy and all I got was this stupid song written about me". I love a band that doesn?t take themselves so seriously, these guys are insane but very clever at writing songs with hooks coz their new album is filled with punching 3 minute songs that will make your grandma sing and rock like a youngster. "From under the cork tree" might not be filed as a new classic but you will have lots of fun with FOB for sure, just play the second track "Of all the Gin joints in all the world" and the party has already started.
rumours has it that Steve Perry wanted to sing in Wild Horses, the band featuring Brian Robertson and Jimmy Bain but they wanted to handle the lead vocals themselves.
