I Hate Kate was formed in 2004 when Justin Mauriello left Zebrahead to explore his musical options,the music is very similar to his former band so his fans will be pleased and about the bandname he says:a friend of mine dated a girl named Kate. She was the devil. I hated her from the first moment I met her. Hell was lonely because she was here. She was an evil person and I just said one day that I hate Kate. This 7 track EP is filled with energetic,catchy as hell punkpop that in fact is a lot better than the last Zebrahead record which didn?t include Justin - with this in mind,it?s quite easy to see who was the reason behind their older and stronger material. I get happy hearing songs like "Story I can?t write" and "Bed of black roses",but the other 5 will get your motor running just as good.

i hate kate is a fun energetic band. usually the opening act for headliners usually gets the crowd going more than the actually headliner does! i love I HATE KATE and i LOVE justin! =]

i dont know why you left zebrahead dude. you wrote such good shit with ali as well. you guys made punk rock big in my mind and i never wanted you to leave that band. but even though we are all praying that youll go back, i respect what you want to do with your life. it just seems zebrahead was better with you thats all.

I am a BIG fan of Zebrahead but hava few contacts with the songs, because most os the time they were out of my reach, now that i´m catching the songs together, I find out that justin left the band... JUST DISAPPOINTED !!! Couldn´t hear I Hate Kate songs Yet, or the new songs with Matty, but I just think it´s a little lack os maturity (or STUPIDITY as well ) to break up a so nice band like this... sad!

When on earth are you guys going to realize....Justin was in Zebrahead to be famous. When he found he wasn?t going to be famous, he stopped helping to write songs and basically was a pain in the ass.
Eventually, the other 4 guys got sick of his crap, and told him to get lost. Justin was fine with it, because he could pursue his dream of becoming famous.
Wish, hope, dream all you want...it will never ever be the same. You either get Matty (who is twice the guitar player and 10 times the songwriter) or you get a bunch of old CD?s.
Choice is yours.
By the way...apparently nobody agrees with you guys, because Broadcast to the World has outsold every other Zebrahead CD to date, and is about to pass Playmate worldwide. Sucks for you all. I?m sure the band would much rather trade more sales and dealing with a total pain in the ass (who can?t write songs) just so you can have your childhood back.

i used to be a great fan of zebrahead and most of was the great combination of justins hitting voice and ali?s deadly raps.. it was just the best stuff ever made, i had to buy the cd playmate of the year once again cuz the other one was badly damaged after the tons of hours i played it.. i guess matty is ok but i was so disappointed that i stopped listening that shit like i used to.. prey every day for justin to come back ^^ still tho i hate kate sounds ok to me.. but i think justin made a very big mistake

I think Justin leaving Zebrahead has made a path for FH to go onto bigger and better things. Its been ages since I hate Kate started up and so far nothing really impressive has come from it. Zebrahead on the other hand have a great new album and have opened for Metallica. I think that shows the truth behind the music. Ohh and I?m gonna go see Zebrahead in like 3 hours cant wait!!!

People who slate Matty should remember how good they thought he was until he left Zebrahead. Yes, Zebrahead are still good but who knows, if things do not work out in both these cases, Justin might return. One thing is for sure, Justin helped bring in the masses of ppl that are now Zebrahead fans and without him the awesome albums they have previously released may not have been as hugely appreciated by fans as they are.
p.s. despite all of this, i hate kate are good but im still pissed he left Zebrahead. Matty Lewis is good, ive seen him live, but not the same as Justin

Justin was the "calm element?" Does "calm element" mean stiffing fans for autographs? Does "calm element" mean wanting to kick Ali out of the band and backing out of a record deal just days before signing? With his semi-talented group of yes-men, he is now free to rule Reno and western Nevada like nobody ever has. Perhaps he can use his 4 weeks between each 3rd stage gig to master another instument that he doesn?t want to play. Chello perhaps?

Zebrahead was a perfect band when Justin was in there. They had some great songs, great videos and great fans too. It wasn?t really nice to see Justin leaving the band. Right, Matt can?t replace him for sure. But without Justin, they are awesome too. When I heard the new Album of ZH - Broadcast to the World, I just found out that the Band it a way BETTER without Justin.

when i heared that justin left zebrahead i was pissed but when i heared his new band (i hate kate) i was blowen away and then i heared zebrahead?s new album and it hit me justin was the one who made zebrahead so cool and different from all the other bands. But hey i still like zebrahead but i think they lost a good thing when justin left. (whats good for i hate kate is bad for zebrahead)

What the hell are u gouys talking about? Justin was the calm element that made zebrahead so good. Matty isn?t bad but he can?t replace Justin. As much as i didn?t want him to leave he still kicks ass in I Hate Kate. You forget that the band zebrahead was made from a bunch of diffrent bands together. breaking up sucks but that doesn?t mean good can?t come from it.

Justin didn?t write even a slight majority of Zebrahead?s music, so it will be interested to see if he can keep anything up creatively, especially when the Killers, Strokes and My Chemical Romance fad dies out. It just goes to show that Justin was only out for fame and fortune and not for "older and stronger material".
If being a prick and single handedly destroying one of the best bands ever is basis for getting stars...than give him 10 instead of 5.

Apparently how Justin came up with the name I HATE KATE is more important than their music to this rewiewer. That is probably because the songs are weak with pointless lyrics. Without Ali of Zebrahead writing the lyrics - Justin is struggling. This band is trying to ride the rehashed 80?s wave, but having no originality will catch up to them.
Pearl Jam´s first name was "Mookie Blaylock" after the All-Star basketball player, but the name was changed to "Pearl Jam" due to trademark concerns. Vocalist Eddie Vedder claimed in an early interview that the name was a reference to his great-grandmother Pearl. In 2006 guitarist Mike McCready said that bass player Jeff Ament came up with "Pearl" and that "Jam" was added after seeing Neil Young live.
