Review

Two Of A Kind is a new project from Holland put together by Terra Nova mainman Fred Hendrix. This is a band with 2 female singers named Esther Brouns and Anita Craenmehr who both has gathered extensive experience singing and performing with variuos bands from the Dutch scene. The rest of the band is former members from Terra Nova, which have released 4 studio albums plus one Best Of with five unreleased songs. I´ve was little disappointed on the latest studio album with Terra Nova because their earlier albums has been great melodic hardrock/tougher AOR albums and I know Fred can write hookladen songs with a powerful sound. So I must say that Two Of A Kind is a damn fine album filled with great female fronted AOR/Rock in the best Heart, Saraya, Witness meets Terra Nova style. The start of the album is just amazing with wonderful up-tempo AOR-rockers with fantastic hooklines and catchy choruses. The songs I´m talking about is Light In The Dark, The Longest Night and Little By Little. Little By Little is an awesome song with a pompish sound where the keyboards shines out and with a powerful drumsound, Yes this is a brilliant song. After the strong opening the album goes down a bit in the tempo and they deliver nice mid-tempo songs. Give Me A Reason reminds of Heart on their 80s heydays, and it is a great song. Unbearable is a nice ballad. The heat is going up again with Whole Again. This is a great guitardriven rocker with a strong catchy chorus that reminds of Witness and yet again the keyboards plays a big role. This is a great album Fred has come up with. It is filled with strong songs with a powerful sound that will please any fan of female fronted AOR. So don´t hesitate to get yourself a copy of this new Dutch project.

Did you know that?

The Dangerous Summer is also book written by Ernest Hemingway, published in 1985, which describes the rivalry between bullfighters Luis Miguel Dominguín and his brother in law Antonio Ordóñez during the "dangerous summer" of 1959. It has been described as Hemingway´s last book.
