Now what is this female pop duo doing on our site you say? Well, we focus on mostly rock music but we can´t overlook good pop music either even if it´s close to disco like in this case with t.A.T.u´s 3rd album "Happy Smiles".
I am a big fan of their previous 2 albums and think they´ve got a unique sound that can´t be compared to any other artist, t.A.T.u has sold 10 million copies of the first 2 albums with several hit singles and already after album no.2 they released a Best of with all respect.
The first single "Beliyu Plaschik" (White robe) off the new album was a disappointment so my expectations were pretty low, there´s less guitar on "Happy smiles" - it´s more of a disco based album which I think is a shame.
I think they should release a rock version of this album because the songs are really good like the new single "You and I", "Fly on the wall" and "Running blind".
The vocals is a mix of Russian and English, the fully English version will be released in 2009.
I guess this will be my favorite disco album of 2008, well it´s the only disco album I will listen to this year. Hahahahahaha.

This album is simply the best i also love the song "Running Blind" i just think the lyrics go great with the beat they put into that song. It always gets better. They have that unique style no other artist can copy that is why their music is always going to be better than the other music heard out there. You can notice the hard work put in to this.

Who?
I think t.A.T.u is the most underrated pop group in the music business. Their sound as well as their lyrics are way better than the whole crap we hear in the radio. Happy Smiles is more mature than their previous two albums and I miss a little bit their famous catchy tunes but I think they deserve some respect for being keen on experimenting and trying new things out. Two tracks are outstanding this time, one is the fabulous "Running Blind" with incredibly good lyrics and the other Track is "Fly on the Wall" which will become a great hit with the right promotion.

This is a completely different sound that t.A.T.u. has created but I absolutely love it. The beats, the vocals, the angst; this album is clearly their best work yet. I particularly enjoy the irony between the title and the lyrics and beats. This album is an amazing listen and I personally cannot wait for the international album which is due Spring 2009.

Did you know that?

July For Kings named their national debut album SWIM (in honor of their former band name).

They were originally called Vice to change to Swim and then finally to July For Kings.
