Review

This is another guy that I had not heard of before getting my hands on "Sju Steg till Himlen". I guess this is yet another hidden treasure on the Swedish music scene.

There is an eclectic collection of songs on this album. From basic folk rock songs to up-tempo songs with a lot of synthesizers in the mix. Norwegian singer Ane Brun as well as Swedish singers Elin Ruth Sigvardsson and Frida Öhrn are providing guest vocals on some tracks.

I like Charlie´s voice, it is a nice one. The opening 4 songs are very impressive, especially the first track, "Tjuvar i Templet". Sometimes the combination of the acoustic instruments and electronic sounds reminds me of personal favorite William Fitzsimmons.

However, I do not like the song "När Natten Kommer". It sounds too "plastic" to me, the synthesizer takes over the song too much. The same goes for some of the other songs as well.

If you get the chance, give this album a chance, even if you do not speak Swedish. The melodies are strong, as well as the vocals. Overall a good album.

Did you know that?

Phil Lynott fell asleep sitting while recording vocals for the track "Still in love with you" in 1974 for the "Nightlife" album.
There is in fact a copy of this recording.
