Review

This is no revolutionary album, but a fresh wind among all the destructive storms that has shown the last year. This style is cool and personal with a mix of rock, pop, some jazz and portion of jam in it. Imagine Pat McGee Band with a fine slice of John Mayer if he had been threaten by the mafia to play jazzy jam rock. The level of the is quite good, but not that exceptional. Songs like the John Mayer soundalike ones ?Shrink? and ?Come and See the Light? sticks out more that the rest in my opinion. But overall they deliver a quite nice album with a personal touch all over. Unfortunately we have been given so many freaking good albums this year so this one have to make way for better album like Jason Mraz and Bleu which is far stronger.

Did you know that?

The name "Minus the Bear" comes from an in-joke among the band members, referring to the 70´s television program, B. J. and the Bear. "A friend of the band had gone on a date,” explains singer-guitarist Jake Snider, "and one of us asked him afterwards how the date went. Our friend said, ´You know that TV show from the ´70s B.J. and The Bear? It was like that... minus The Bear.´ That’s the straight truth."
