Human Cometh strikes back with their second album after their debut album Evolution that was released last year so these guys are really creative. Behind the vocals is non other than Kaj Roth that also writes reviews for Melodic.net. The debut was a solid hardrock/metal album, but lacked little in the songs in my opinion, but for HC II they have really moved up a couple of steps on the ladder with a better variation. For this new album I think everything has changed to the better than on the debut. First, of all the production is damn tight and the songs are very guitar oriented with lots of heavy melodic riffs. The songs are a lot more interesting this time and even if some of the songs are quite heavy the choruses are very melodic with nice hooks.
On the down side, I think they lose their sense of bringing melodic songs when they get too modern. Like on the song Hyperspace where they have growl vocals and it don’t work for me, just plain and boring. But on the better side check out Alone In The Dark with a strong chorus and the great Love Games that’s one the best songs they have come up with. Challenger Deep is another strong song where Kaj sings a duet with a female vocalist. She has a clean and lovely voice that is a great mixture to Kaj´s more rougher voice. Fight Of The Skyscrapers is a huge ballad with strong melodies and the guitar solo is fantastic. The second chapter of Human Cometh is a really good album and sound wise they have not changed it’s just a lot better than the debut and it’s a nice mixture of Kiss, Kings X, Winger and hints of Europe.
