How does Blink 182 sound like without frontman Tom DeLonge? Well, they sound just like Blink 182 without Tom DeLonge! When Tom formed his new band Angels and Airwaves, the remaining Blink members Mark Hopper and Travis Barker decided to go on as +44 and didn?t step away from the successful formula of the college punkpop that made them famous. Their debut goes back to the style Blink had on "Take off your pants and jacket" (2001) but not with the same quality songs, this is a pretty good album and the new single "When your heart stops beating" deserves to be a smash hit but it just ain?t the same without DeLonge. He wanted to develop the sound of the band on their last self titled album from 2003 which I think is their best and I see now why Tom formed Angels and Airwaves - he was simply tired of writing the same songs over and over again. Mark and Travis has done a well produced album which will be appreciated by many fans but in the long run, this album will not make any fuss in the music industry. |

This album will probably win the "best female singer songwriter" award when we sum up the year 2006. Alice new album is a perfectly produced album somewhere between favourite girls like Jann Arden, Shawn Colvin, Norah Jones, Aimee Mann, Charlotte Martin and Nicole Nordeman. Great songwriting with catchy tunes and thoughtful lyrics, a voice soft as silk without losing the edge and as I said a real damn fine production signed by Andrew Williams who also produced the melodic.net faves in Dogs Eye View among others. Listen to the Norah Jones smelling "Time" - that is a worldwide hit if Norah would have done it. Now we can only hope that Alice will have the chance to show the world that she sits on the same qualities. Nah, not more to add actually. Grab a copy at once folks. This is a really strong album and four strong stars in grading is delivered without any doubts. |

| Oh La La what a nice album from this band (not a soloalbum.) A nice and sweet popalbum with flirts of midwest rock and with a folky touch. For fans of bands like Vigilantes Of Love and artists like Jewel. Not really much more to add. An album that doesnt change the world, but is really worth buying and an album youll enjoying a lot. Great production and harmonies. |

| The second album from Andrew Peterson is what we have here. An acoustic-based well produced singer songwriter with flirts of Paul Simon, Marc Cohn and Wayne Kirkpatrick at his most acoustic moments. Nothing new under the sun for sure, but still an album well worth to check out, cause it contains some really good moments, like in the Paul Simon-esque "Isnt It Love" and "Hold Up My Arms" in a more up-tempo beat. Could easily have fitted on a Del Amitri album from the early 90s. Good album! |

As a fan of The Beatles and Bob Dylan as a teenager, Price set his sights on being a songwriter. "I don't know if it was the realization that I was always going to be just an average guitar player, or the fact that I always have an opinion, that got me headed in the songwriting direction. But, for whatever reason, I just got that fire. I was inspired by certain music to try and do a similar thing, and I still am.."
And you can hear that Bill Price is a Dylan fanatics who know every single note. He is also articulate and act sympathetic, but geeh... this is kinda boring, because the album grabs my attention when he dares to take a road outside the Dylan-complex. Something he's doing on a few tracks like "Skeptic's Lullaby" and "Waterfall #2". |

| A CD produced by Melodic.net fave Craig Northey cant be bad can it. Nope. At least not this one. Its a smart mix of roots rock, Americana and pop ala Craigs solo album (and Beck, Eels etc...) The opening title track sets the tone and the Ron Sexsmith smelling "The Opportunists" another good one. A few nonsense sort of tracks takes down the grading a bit but listen to him at CD BABY - if you enjoy Sexsmith, Costello and the bands I just mentioned... |

New York based rocker Bob Pressner goes rootsy on his debut album "Honor among thieves" that is a well produced affair. He sometimes remind of Neil Young but in a southern rock suit, if you add a touch of melodic rock a la Dan Lucas into the mix you´ll get Bob Pressner´s 13 track album from 2010.
It´s a big sound with loud guitars which is very cool, there are some really good songs on this album like "Afterglow", the real heavy "Bleeding me dry", "Independence day" and the Bruce Hornsby-like "Angels in the wind". It comes as no surprise that this is quality music when you see a name like Tony Levin on bass on "Friend of mine". Thumbs up! |

| Very good male modern rock country here. Just the type we like a lot, with not that much slide and yihaa´s. More heartbusting ballads, and straight ahead rock. A more AOR type of Dwight Yokam. Like Blackhawk at their rockiest moments., and Garth Brooks meeting Petty. Solid and good. |

Brannon Powers (formerly of Happyendings) dropped everything from what he was doing in the summer of 2007, he left his home, friends, work and bought a one way ticket to Hawaii to record this EP. This 5 track EP contains 3 new songs and 2 acoustic versions of "Miracle" and "Long way home", both featured on his former band The Whitest Light´s EP "Beginnings". The style on this EP leans more towards a modern singer/songwriter rock with country influences, Brannon is a talented songwriter where you get to hear proof of in the beautiful ballad "I can´t be the same". "My way out" is a groovy song and the only song that reminds of his time in Happyendings, the midtempo "Waiting for a sign" is a grower for sure and also the most country sounding song of all these tracks. A nice EP worth exploring. |

| You can read an interview with this guy on that section. Cary who was one of the part in Jackopierce who did a couple of good CDs a while back. Here is his first soloalbum, and well - phew - this is really really good ! Its a bit more mature than Jackopierce. More in a singer songwriter costume. It contains superb songwriting, and a whole bunch of great refrains. You cant complain about the production either. Nope. So people. Buy this CD at once if you enjoy mature modern wellproduced poprock with great refrains. Nothing more. Nothing less. |

This is another guy that I had not heard of before getting my hands on "Sju Steg till Himlen". I guess this is yet another hidden treasure on the Swedish music scene.
There is an eclectic collection of songs on this album. From basic folk rock songs to up-tempo songs with a lot of synthesizers in the mix. Norwegian singer Ane Brun as well as Swedish singers Elin Ruth Sigvardsson and Frida Öhrn are providing guest vocals on some tracks.
I like Charlie´s voice, it is a nice one. The opening 4 songs are very impressive, especially the first track, "Tjuvar i Templet". Sometimes the combination of the acoustic instruments and electronic sounds reminds me of personal favorite William Fitzsimmons.
However, I do not like the song "När Natten Kommer". It sounds too "plastic" to me, the synthesizer takes over the song too much. The same goes for some of the other songs as well.
If you get the chance, give this album a chance, even if you do not speak Swedish. The melodies are strong, as well as the vocals. Overall a good album. |

| A quite shattered release this one. When its good, its one of the best of this year. fantastic modern softer rock with a touch of heaven and with a little latinovibe ala Nuclear Valdez!! On some songs though, its to much latino (even in spanish) to satisfy me. Great almost all over though and a superb production signed Julian Raymond. |

| The former Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland has released a live album that was recorded back in 1991 with a the line-up that became Damn The Machine. Ok, first of all I think this is a boring live album with vocals on just one song and it sounds really bad, otherwise this is an instrumental album all the way. The sound is not that convincing either and the songs are just heavy and none melodic that gets into my nerves after couple of minutes, no this may be a cult classic album for some but I think this is just waste of time and boring. |

| Do you ever find yourself ranting and raving about an artist that you love, but can’t understand why others aren’t doing the same? I feel like I do that every time the name Coury Palermo comes up. Thankfully I have a perfectly good reason to do so right now. “boxsideoutV.I” and “the minorfall” have finally been released. It feels like ages since Coury has released new material. “boxsideout” was released in late 2009 but it wasn’t original material. It had three cover songs including a remix of one. The great thing about Coury is that he made each of them his own. For example, “Another Day in Paradise” originally done by Phil Collins is a song I couldn’t be bothered to listen to EVER. I was just never a Collins fan. However, Coury’s version I absolutely adore. There is a dark, almost troubling atmosphere that he creates with the music. Coury’s vocals make it sound like he is absolutely immersed in the song. There is so much passion in his voice that I absolutely love. His composition skills really shine while listening to “No Ordinary Love”. The use of strings with the layering of his vocals is mind blowing. The song sounds so simple but knowing there is so much going on is really exciting while listening. His version of “Here Comes The Rain Again” is almost beyond words. This song is a vocal showcase for the man. He definitely does the Eurhythmics justice on this one. “the minorfall” was released earlier in March. Here we have three original songs from Coury Palermo. Now you might not want to listen to these songs while you are in a good mood. These ones are a mood killer lol. They don’t have any pop-inspired beats but that isn’t what this release is about. For those of you who are looking for songs like that you are going to have to wait a bit longer, but they are coming in a later release. The slower paced songs from him are actually my favorite. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good upbeat song from Coury but he is at his best when he makes you listen and feel every word he sings. “Hymn For Lovers Lost”, “Meant To Be” and “Sunday Black” left me aching for more music from this man. I can’t wait to see what he releases next! If you like what you hear, both EPs are available on Itunes. |

It is finally show time for Coury Palermo on The Broken Way We Love. Palermo has been perfecting his craft on previous EP’s while teasing us at the same time. A full-length debut from this melancholic mastermind has been long over due and it doesn’t disappoint.
When you find yourself alone on a cold dreary night, this is going to be the album you put on. It engulfs you, makes you feel every note that is sung and makes you want to shut out the world. This album needs to be listened to with absolutely no interruptions.
Palermo has come a long way from his days in his former band Lynden. Rather than use his voice as a secondary instrument behind guitars and pop influenced melodies, it is continually at the forefront, accompanied by an enchanting composition of strings and background vocals that give his songs that haunting feel I love.
From the moment you press play, Coury’s melancholic tones demand your attention like only he can. His voice is simply beautiful! That is a word you will hear a lot when asking what people think of his music.
Standout tracks from this album are “All of Me”, “The War”, “Hush”, “Headline” and “Sunday Black”. Any previous fan of his work will embrace these songs while new listeners will get prepared for what you can expect on the remainder of the album.
If you have the chance, make sure to pick up any deluxe edition of the album with new remixes including the “Hush” (Sleepthief Remix). This album is available digitally through his official website at http://www.courypalermo.com.The more songs you have from Coury Palermo, the happier you will be. |
