Powerful, anthemic and hard-hitting, THE UNICORN MURDERS is an emerging hard rock band quickly gaining the attention of fans of bands like Alice In Chains, Tool, Filter and Soundgarden. Striking a balance between hard rocking and thought provoking, THE UNICORN MURDERS aim to connect with people’s hearts and minds.
Formed in the fall of 2010, the band quickly went to work writing and demoing material at Cherry Beach Studios in Toronto. Within a few months they had compiled enough material for an album. In July 2011, THE UNICORN MURDERS began recording their debut album with producer Mike Turner (Crash Karma and ex-guitarist for Our Lady Peace) at The Pocket Studios in Toronto. Juno award winner Mark Makoway is handling mix duties.
THE UNICORN MURDERS are Brian Paul (guitar), Glen Neath (drums), Nic Vurro (bass) and Owen Kelly (vocals).
Prior to THE UNCORN MURDERS, Owen’s previous band VAULT was featured on the hit show “The Hills” and had a song on the soundtrack of “The Hills Have Eyes”. Brian, Nic and Glen’s former band TENTH PLANET released three albums, most recently, “Everything is Never Over” in 2009. Produced by The Tea Party’s Jeff Martin and Mike Turner, the album won “Rock Album of the Year” in 2010 by Europe’s Rock Tribune Magazine. “See Yourself” the album’s lead single spent 10 months on the IAC Charts, peaking at #1 for six weeks and was a semi-finalist for song of the year. TENTH PLANET was also awarded Tony Iommi’s Planet Rock finalists for the song “Ariane”. The band embarked on multiple European tours with dates in England, Germany and The Netherlands. Guitarist Brian Paul’s has also done some outside song writing, including co-writing a song on Jeff Martin’s album “The Armada”.
