Skintrade was formed in 1991 in Stockholm, Sweden by George Bravo (Guitars, Backing Vocals), Hakan Persson (Drums, Backing Vocals) and Hakan Calmroth (Bass) and was soon joined by Matti Alfonzetti (Vocals) and Stefan Bergstrom (Guitars, Backing Vocals).
In 1993 they released their self-titled debut album “Skintrade” and it was received overwhelmingly positive from both media and audience. The singles “Sick As A Dog” and “One by One” was played frequently on radio and the videos shown on MTV Headbangers Ball. The band was awarded The Zeppelin award for best hardrock album and nominated for a Grammy.
The follow up album “Roach Powder”, produced by Thomas Skogsberg (Entombed among others) was released 1995. The co-operation with Thomas resulted in a heavier and darker album than the first one. The album was well received and the singels “Snap Goes Your Mind” and “Flies” were played on radio and videos shown on MTV.
The band reached great success in Sweden and abroad, the Nordic countries, Holland, Germany and Belgium. The band did several tours in Europe and played at some of Europe’s biggest festivals such as Dynamo Open Air (Holland) and MTV’s Rock Am Ring (Germany). Skintrade also played as opening act for the Danish band DAD during their European tour 1995.
One of the last and most memorable gigs the band did was a live broadcasted radio show in Amsterdam, Netherlands late 1995 with the English band Therapy.
Skintrade dissolved shortly after that and the band member’s choose to go separate ways.
The idea to collaborate again emerged as the members got more and more requests from fans. So in May 2011 the band reunited for the first time in sixteen years.
The line-up: Matti Alfonzetti – Vocals, Guitars, Stefan Bergstrom – Guitars, backing vocals, Hakan Calmroth – Bass, Hakan “Maze” Persson – Drums, backing vocals
During the first rehearsals it became obvious that the characteristic vibe and energy were still there.
In the summer and autumn of 2011 the band wrote and recorded four new songs with help from their old friend Ronny Lahti, the engineer and producer who previously worked with the band on both previous albums.
The new album from Skintrade will be titled “Skintrade – Past & Present”. It includes 3 brand new songs and 12 selected and re-mastered songs from previous albums.
The album will be released worldwide 2012-03-21 by Universal Music.
Skintrade will start a Swedish tour in March that will continue throw-out the spring and summer 2012.
