So I´ve come to the realization recently that I´ve tried to fit so many different molds, both spiritually and musically. The conclusion that I´ve come to is that I can´t live to try and fit myself somewhere I´m not inspired. Everything we do in life has to be about passion and following our dreams, the dreams I believe were given to us and birthed in purpose. I´ve found myself trying to go the easy way, take the easy route. What I´ve learned through it all is that when I do that, I end up at square one wondering how I got back there. I equate a lot of what I do as an artist to my everyday life. It all sort of revolves around the pull of a calling and the hope of that calling. Am I passionate about life? Am I passionate about the art I´m creating? Sometimes it´s a very solid yes and other times it´s been a huge resounding NO. Basically what I´m saying to everyone who reads this is that I´m so tired of settling for the norm in both my life and art. I´ve learned, through what seems like heartache and headaches, that if I can´t be madly in love with what I´m creating or doing, I need to seriously take a U turn and get back to the beginning of what was originally an epiphany. Music...what an amazing gift to all of us. I´ve had to search through an amazing amount of piled issues to come back to this point. It´s not about labels, and industry likes and dislikes, or radio singles and countless other things that can get artists focused in the wrong direction. It´s about music and what it does to people. It´s about what´s behind the music, the story, the passion that makes a song come together and makes the people that listen to it breathe life again. This...is what I want in my music.
