Alternative-rock quartet Satellitepartnered withARTISTdirectthis week toexclusively premiere the performance video for "Turning On My Own" from their debut LP,Calling Birds which came out in March throughDescendantRecords.The band blends boldly vulnerable lyrics with anthemic but finely textured pop and folk. Frontman Steven McMorran has a creative history of collaborating with everyone fromWeezer's Rivers CuomotoJoe CockerandEvery Avenue.
Most recently, Steven McMorrancollaboratedwith Weezer's Rivers Cuomoon his English-Japanese self-titled LP called,Scott & Rivers. Steven co-wrote the first track,Break Freestating, "Thebest part about that experience was seeing how he built this story that we sort of outlined together... and I got to hear the word 'perambulations' fit perfectly into a verse."
Satellite consists of Steven McMorran(vocals/guitar),Mitch Allan(guitar),Josh Dunahoo(guitar), andErik Kerte (bass). The band formed in 2010 around songs written by Steven McMorran and the production aesthetic of esteemed songwriter, Allan, with input from bandmate, Dunahoo.

It'll be a busy summer for theBarenaked Ladies(guitarist/vocalist Ed Robertson, bassist/vocalist Jim Creeggan, keyboardist/vocalist Kevin Hearn and drummer/vocalist Tyler Stewart), who are celebrating their 25th anniversary with the release ofGrinning Streaka brand-new studio album (their twelfth, for those keeping count) and their first for new label Vanguard Records. The group released their first album in 1992 (Gordon) but had been actively recording since 1988 when they released the demo tapeBuck Naked. Now, for their anniversary, the band is putting the finishing touches to the album, which was recorded in Toronto with producers Gavin Brown (The Tragically Hip, Metric), Howie Beck (Feist, Josh Rouse) and Mark Endert (Maroon 5, Train). Over the course of the past twenty-three years, Barenaked Ladies have amassed an international fanbase whose members number in the millions. Barenaked Ladies have also announced details of their forthcoming North America 2013 "Last Summer On Earth Tour."
