Jessie Frye is an up and coming pop artist from Denton, TX. She lists artists such as Tori Amos and Oscar Wilde among her influences. Intrigued, Melodic.net was able to get an interview with Jessie herself. Here are her answers:
Hello Jessie and welcome to Melodic.net.  How are you?
Good morning, I am fine thank you!

Tell us about yourself, what is your background and how did you get into singing?
Well I am 23 years old and based in Denton. TX. I was home schooled for the majority of my teenage years and spent that time playing piano, reading, and being a recluse essentially. Music has always been an innate presence in my life. There is no certain point where I decided to write or sing, I always knew it was exactly what I wanted to do.

What and who are your main influences when it comes to writing music?
I am very inspired by the glam rock era- artists like T. Rex and David Bowie. Playing with gender roles in art has always been something that fascinated me. The Cure has been my favorite band since I was about five. I remember being mesmerized by Michael Jackson, thinking to myself "yes! I feel what he is feeling, too!" You know, the passion. Tori Amos is a huge influence. She inspired me to pick up the piano.  Oh, and of course I just can't leave out Ryan Adams! And when it comes to writing lyrics, I am very inspired by some of my favorite literary figures. Oscar Wilde and Anais Nin, for example.

What is your main goal with your music?
I would say it is a goal of mine to always better myself as a musician and always explore new things. I would also say I hope to never become jaded! I mean you talk to some people and you wonder why they are even making music anymore, they are so sour!

If you could go on tour with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
I can't think of an answer! LOL

Is there a certain song you wish you had written?
I don't know if I wish I wrote it, but every time I hear Jeff Buckley's "So Real" I feel like I am right there in the song with him- like I know exactly the feeling he was going for. It's intense.

Is there a certain album you would have given all to play/sing on?
Sorry I'm bad at those, haha

Tell us something not many people knows about you
I don't own a television.

On a perfect day, what do you do?
I get my coffee, I go for a run. If the feeling is right I will work on some music and probably stay in my pajamas all day. End the day with a nice bottle of wine and good friends.

I read that you opened up for Pat Benatar, what was that like?
I only had one week notice before I knew I was playing the show, so I didn't have too much time to let it soak in. I was pretty terrified but it was such a great experience to have.

Which is the coolest act you have opened for?
Joan As Police Woman.

In a dream world, who would be your opening act on a world tour?
My opening act? I have never thought of that before!

Did you always dream of making music in your own name or has there been and bands you have been involved in?
Well, it's called Jessie Frye because I write the songs and the project is my baby. However, all the band members contribute greatly to the sound we have. We all write the parts together when we are fleshing out a song I bring to practice. So, the sound of Jessie Frye has a lot to do with each band member's individuality. I have never been a part of any other bands or projects.

It is still early 2012, which was the best album of 2011? Or at least your top 3…
I liked Duran Duran's new album. I actually got to see them perform at SXSW 2011!  They are literally one of the best live bands I have ever seen. PJ Harvey's Let England Shake was amazing. I really enjoyed Eisley's The Valley, too.

Thanks for doing this, any final words for our readers?
No, thank you! I appreciate any one who took the time to read this, and I hope you check us out!
