The new A.C.T. album might be entitled "Silence", but the result speaks volumes of what a massive musical force these Swedish melodic prog rockers has become. No less than 20 songs to make up for the last three years of... silence. And keyboardplayer Jerry Sahlin and vocalist Herman Saming are everything but quiet as they break the silence here and now. |

Slap ACROMAs Orbitals in your player. Set the volume to "stun." Push "play." Now close your eyes.
The albums opening track, "Careless Ones," swirls into view like a sandstorm on an uncharted planet. The sound is vivid, technicolor, tangible. In fact, all of ACROMAs thirteen tracks--from the cloud-scraping "Sun Rises Down" to the regal "Some Desert Night" to the frenzied "Motive"--have cinematic quality.

Three years ago, as Audiovent unveiled its long-awaited (long awaited in the sense that anyone who had heard their 1999 indie release "Papas Dojo" knew the band was on to something massive) major-label debut, "Dirty Sexy Knights In Paris," the Calabasas, Calif.-based four piece seemed--in an industry where nothing is as it seems and even less is guaranteed--to be on the verge of being rock stars. If the songs from the 12-song
release--think "Make Yourself"-era Incubus gone Goo Goo Dolls-- werent shoe-ins for
massive radio play (and anyone whos heard "One Small Choice" can attest to its Papa Roach-rivaling catchiness), then, well, the band did have a little secret in the bag: Three of their four members were related to members of Incubus. Given the needle in a haystack chance a new band has at making any type of impact (and thus a sophomore record), most wouldve capitalized on such glaring factoid till no end. This is even better than having Rivers Coumo pen your first single, or Tom-Lord Algae mix your album, or a guest appearance from Jacoby Shaddix, there label mustve assumed. But, the band, nixed any plans at becoming rock stars off their family ties--Incubus wasnt even so much as mentioned in the bands bio. And, almost like clockwork, the bands first two singles (relatively) stalled at radio, their tour cycle ran out, and their A&R crew seemed less than enthusiastic about the bands eventual follow-up. You know what happens next in these stories.
Fast forward to 2005--after the band parted ways in mid-2004--Audiovent guitarist Ben Einziger (brother of Incubus Mike) and bassist Paul Fried (Bens step-brother) quickly assembled a new project, Agent Sparks. Einzinger now handles the majority of the songwriting and vocal duties, with vocalist/keyboardist Stephanie Eitel and drummer George Purviance now in tow.

Agents of the sun- a 5 piece hard rock band from Baltimore that delivers amazing harmony vocals packaged in a bright but rocking sound, hearing their debut album ?Aurora? is the perfect medicine and the balance we need towards the numetal explosion this world is witnessing. It wasn?t so strange that we at melodic.net wanted them as the Band of the week in the beginning of this october when Autumn falls,Agents of the sun?s music shines over us like a bright summer sun, guitarist Jason Fubler of the band was the one who had to stand in the line of fire of my questions, shoot Agent Jason, shoot!

Much to my surprise was the "Just Like That" comeback album of the Alessi Bros. It became a pretty fun enjoyable Pop/Rock West Coast album with great hooks and vocals of both Bobby and Billy Alessi combined with some excellent guitar parts of Peppy Castro (Balance) and drums of Mike Ricciardella. I really enjoyed songs like "No Gettin Around My Love" and "Livin With A Broken Heart". Actually this album reminds me a bit on a - up to date version mixture - somewhere between Toto and Tycoon. If your into some good old melodic clean fun songs with tender vocals then your set with these brothers. I asked them a few questions about their past with Barnaby Bye, present with Alessi Bros. and future plans ..... |

Imagine a mixture of Evan & Jaron, The Rembrandts and Lowen &
Navarro, what will you get ? A fine result of the most wonderful
harmonic duo performances of all time. And theres no better way to
describe this unique brotherhood band American Royal ! Cameron and
Trevor Lynch both born, raised and hailed in the Kansas City district
form the heart of American Royal and just released the
"Transcontinental" album which contains in many ways the most perfect
melodic effort of the year so far ! I was blessed to hear their
relaxing vocals, if youre (just like me) into above mentioned bands,
then look no further and youll melt after you expierenced
"Transcontinental".....

In this age when we are witnessing the collapse of the record business as we once knew it, new bands keep coming that are living by the motto of "You cant keep a good band down" - its time for the rock band American Standard to put a needle in the pompous air castle balloon of American Idol.Lead singer Brad Sinsel (formerly of TKO and War Babies), lead guitarist Brynn Arens (formerly of cult band Flipp), bassist Evan Sheely (formerly of 80´s metal band Q5) and drummer Michael Alex are currently working on their debut album as American Standard. The coolest rock star in the business, Brynn Arens is always good to melodic.net and shared his thoughts on this promising band. |

It doesn?t happen so often that you hear albums made today with music on it that ?talks? to you,and to use Gregg?s words in this interview when he?s talking about the music and the bands that was talking to him in his youth, I must say the same to the record he and the boys of Attraction 65 has done. I listened to it every night on my vacation when I was going to sleep and it would be the perfect end of a really nice day,Gregg Fulkerson-the old AOR rocker from the early 90?s band Blue Tears turned out to be a really nice person too.

Two years ago Automatic Black was signed to Arista and recorded a great straight forward rock album. But due to label politics and change of the stuff there, the album was never released and also stuck! Read more about this and what happened to this VERY exciting band?. |

Autovein what a great band! Straightforward and timeless rock with a modern twist that would go really far if they?ll get the chance. They should have had an album out these days, but after their label changed their staff including all the people that were working with the guys, the band had to leave. But hopefully their GGGarth produced album will find a new home, cause it?s a real GEM. Read what happened and what is to come with the guys?. |
