Abandoned Pools release their first new music in seven years when they drop their third album, Sublime Currency on August 28, 2012 via Tooth & Nail Records. Sublime Currency is the culmination of the eleven-year journey of Tommy Walter, bassist and co-founder of the critically acclaimed band eels.
Alternative Press exlusively premiered the title track and this week RCRDLBL premiered another track from the highly anticipated album. ’Unrehearsed’ is thoughtful, emotive rock that finds singer Tommy Walter crooning over a hushed instrumental landscape,” attests Emily Zemler at RCRDLBL. “Basically, if you've been a fan in the past, this is a welcome return.”
AP have a few LA area shows coming up surrounding the album release:
Tues, Aug 28 – Los Angeles, CA – Hotel Café (Tommy solo)
Sat, Sept 15 – Los Angeles, CA – The Roxy
Thurs, Sept 27 – Upland, CA – The Wire
Sublime Currency is the follow up to Abandoned Pools’ 2005 release Armed to the Teeth, a disc that revealed a songwriter grappling with confusion and darkness. Now, Tommy has answered his own questions, finding solace in his faith and recent marriage.
Prior to making the album, Tommy concentrated on producing, mixing and songwriting, working with artists, producers and bands such as Sara Bareilles, Ryan Tedder, Backstreet Boys, Better Then Ezra, Mike Simpson of The Dust Brothers, Bryce Soderberg of Lifehouse and many more.
