Saxon Name Decision

The High Court in London has made a judgment regarding the legitimate right to use the Saxon name. Mr Justice Laddie has ruled that no one individual member of the band owns the name, that it is in fact an asset of the Saxon partnership. This means that there are two bands performing at the moment - Oliver/Dawson Saxon, which features Graham Oliver & Steve Dawson; and Saxon which features Biff Byford and Paul Quinn. Both acts, whilst sharing a common ancestry, are separate entities, and both have a legal right to the name. The original Saxon no longer exists, as the lineup of Oliver, Dawson, Quinn, Byford and Gill are no longer performing together

Did you know that?

According to the band Godsmack, they arrived at the name after one band member made a particularly inappropriate comment and another remarked "God will smack you for that one". Hence forth one would receive a "Godsmack" for bad behavior.

Godsmack is also an Alice in Chains song from the album "Dirt."
