Seattle-based EMI label Tooth & Nail are toasting the success of one of their recent releases, the sophomore album from emo-rockers Further Seems Forever. The appropriately named How To Start A Fire shot right to the top of the Billboard Heatseekers chart when it was released three weeks ago and entered the taste-making CMJ (College Music Journal) Top 200 at number 56, the third highest debut in the chart's history. The band's current single, The Sound, is top of MP3.com's download chart, and the video is on MP4.com here (registration required).
Describing their influences as: 'Fugazi, Jawbox, Sunny Day Real Estate and Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and The Beatles as well as hardcore,' the band have built up a considerable US following over the last few years and regularly play to sold out crowds across the country. The CMJ are definitely fans, writing that Further Seems Forever are: 'giving [indie rock] a much-needed shot in the arm of heartfelt, genuine emotion, minus the hipster vibe...serious pop chops and strong songwriting.'
+44 pronounced "plus forty four," a reference to the international dialing code of the United Kingdom, where band members Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker first discussed the project.
