U.K. rock act A will release its fourth album, "Teen Dance Ordinance," on June 27 internationally via London. The metal-tinged first single "Rush Song" can be sampled on the group?s official Web site, ahead of its planned April 18 commercial release. A video for the track was recently shot in Los Angeles by Street Gang Films.
As previously reported, "Teen Dance Ordinance" was recorded in Seattle with producer Terry Date (Soundgarden, Deftones). The second U.K. single will be "Bettere Off With Him," which is expected to be worked to radio in June.
A will begin a four-night run at London?s Metro tonight (April 4), during which it will craft its set lists according to online voting. After a half-dozen German dates at the end of the month, a longer U.K. run will get underway May 4 in Northampton.
"Teen Dance Ordinance" is the follow-up to 2002?s "Hi-Fi Serious," which reached No. 18 on the U.K. album chart. The single "Nothing" achieved a career-best peak of No. 9 on the country?s single tally, while the follow-up, "Starbucks," topped out at No. 20.
A source at Hollywood Records, which licenses A?s album in North America, tells Billboard.com the label will release "Teen Dance Ordinance" no later than early September. The group is planning a late-summer North American tour that could last anywhere from four to eight weeks, with the potential for a second trip before year?s end.
The first North American track to be worked to radio will likely be "Better Off With Him" in June, a video for which was shot at the same time as "Rush Song."
