Everclear is a favorite band since 1996 when they released their third album "So Much for the Afterglow." Liked their alternative and satirical edge with sharp lyrics in a radio friendly format. Since then they have released four studio albums, where the two siblings records Songs from an American Movie, Vol. 1 and vol. 2are the highlights in my opinion. Very good albums where they walked away a bit from their punk roots to a more commercial format.
However, I must say that I’m I a little disappointed of what they have released the last years in a number of compilations, including acoustic versions, covers and most recently, new recordings of old tracks. Overall, the band has released twelve albums in which five of them are different types of collections, which is way to many. The cover album The Vegas Years, which included some new songs had its moments as well as the acoustic "In a Different Light
". But unfortunately I have to say that this album of new recordings of old songs are completely meaningless and an insult to all fans. Cannot find a single good argument why it should be released since they haven’t done anything new at all of the songs and there are two other compilations with the band. It feels like they want to milk the fans to get some more money, but without giving anything back. Embarrassing!
